Good morning all,

I am new to the game, starting this past summer, and have some questions I hope someone can help me with!

I am going to the Sawgrass Marriott in Florida (working vacation) and I am somewhat overwhelmed with the choices available.

First of all, according to their (www.sawgrassmarriott.com) they have 8 courses. How do you decide which course(s) to play?  I know they have the pro level courses, but do they have ones for us mere mortals?

And what is the difference between Sawgrass Marriott and TPC Sawgrass?

I would rather not appear unprepared, or flat-out stupid, in front of my co-workers.

One other question, and a more general one, are there any general tips you can give me concerning the facility that might be helpful?

Thank you for your responses in advance!

You will enjoy any of the courses there at Sawgrass. The Stadium Course is obviously full of history with the famous 17th Par 3, however it is costly to play. Some of the other courses are very nice and in great condition, the semi-private Sawgrass Country Club is a great round. The Dye's Valley course is also very nice but will set you back a few $$$.

The Marriott at Sawgrass is the main accommodation. They have 1/2 bedroom villas as well as normal hotel rooms. TPC Sawgrass is simply the name of the destination. I know people who went up there and actually rented a villa on Ponte Vedra Beach which is a 10-15 minute drive from Sawgrass and I think it came out cheaper than staying at the Marriott, however the quality is nowhere near as good as the villas are pretty old fashioned looking.

I hope this helps.

JT,

Thank you for the feedback, and yes, it does help.  My employer is paying for accommodations at the Marriott, so that is not an issue for me.

I looked up the 17th, and I have see pictures of it before.  It would be fun to play a famous course like that one!  But I am still cloudy as to the difference between Sawgrass Marriott and TPC Sawgrass.  You mentioned TPC Sawgrass is the name of the destination.  Would it be analogous to Disney World being the destination, while the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, etc. are parts of the whole?

Thanks!

Sawgrass Marriott = Hotel.

TPC Sawgrass = Golf courses.

I'm playing the Valley Course in a couple weeks, I've heard it's very challenging. I know they offer forecaddies, I was wondering if you used one? If so, what was the cost and did you find it worth the money?

my get up and go musta got up and went..
