This has happened to me twice, the last two rounds. Start off the other day par, birdie, par, par and then all of a sudden some weird thing works its way into my swing and now here i am compensating and all this stuff. Happened to me today also, started off par, par, par, bogey, par and then wham, something happens with my wrist cock where the club wants to flatten out on the top of the backswing. Very weird and dont know what the hell to do, happend on the range a bit the other nite but nothing crazy. I hit a bucket of balls before todays round and was striking the ball like a beast, really thought todays round was gonna be real low. Ended up shooting 84, scrambling my ass off. The other day mustered up a 78 but could have been lower. Anyway does this happen to anyone else or what?

Although I think nobody will believe me - eat a hot dog when you make the turn. It'll work wonders for your game. I've gone out in a really high number, and then came back with a 40, or something, to salvage a socially acceptable score, and it, I will swear, the hot dog did it.

What happens to your ball flight when your club flattens out?

co-sign on the eating part. it definitely helps replenish some of your bodies needs and it'll get your body going once again.

It happens early in my round so I dont think eating is playing a part in it. Ball flight is a borderline fade / slice. Not good, much less power also with irons and woods. The main part is inconsistency with what I want the ball to do.

What's your swing path (check your divots, if you make them)? First guess is obviously an outside-in swing, but at your handicap I don't think that's very likely. My second guess is the club face is slightly open at impact, and your swing path is straight. You could be leading your swing with your left shoulder down, rather than extending through the ball, causing the club to stay open through impact.

If I were you I would try closing the club face slightly at address and putting the ball back in your stance with an iron. (If you hook then you've closed it too far, just adjust accordingly.)

Happens to me everytime I play it seems like. Usually after the first two beers my swing goes, then after about six everything starts clickin again...;)

(Last round ...par, +1, bird, +2, (4) +1, +2, +1, eagle, eagle, (5) par, +1, +1..... 77(par 70)... lol)

Seriously though, its all about confidence in your swing, if you have it then the sprayed shots will not affect you as much, write it off as a mental lapse and go to the next shot, period. Don't think about your score, or every little aspect of your swing. If I would've cared about my score in the previous example I probably woulda got all pissed off and had a hard time breakin' 90.

Always remember the last hole is over and the next hole hasn't happened yet, so blow it off and concentrate on the good with your swing instead of the bad.

Just remember the 2-3 things you should be telling yourself before each shot and just hit it. Mine are "weight on balls of feet, "right elbow in on takeaway", "back straight"....Should be goin' low real soon IMO, good luck.

For me I try to think about where the ball is going, what I'm doing that's sending it that way that is different from what I normally do, and then just make a few practice swings and give it a try if it feels right.

Are you sure it is the hotdog or the rest while eating the hotdog?
