Putters are such a personal item that rely on feel and confidence, the only way to know if you would like an oversized putter grip is to install one and give it a try for a while and see if you putt better.  I have a Jumbo putter grip, which helps me out, but I know a lot of people who can't putt with one.  It's all in what feels right and gives you the results you want.

Just don't expect to become a super putting machine simply from changing the grip.   In my case, it helps take the tension out of my hands and forearms but it doesn't make putts for you.

I have the Super Stroke Fatso on my Ping Anser putter and LOVE it. http://www.superstrokeusa.com/products/putter-grips/fatso.html I'm 6'5" tall and have large hands, so the grip feels great to me. As soon as I had it installed, I started draining everything inside 10 feet. After 3 rounds, my usual weekly playing partner actually said to me, "Did you build a putting green in your backyard to practice or something? You have been making EVERYTHING lately!" I reminded him I just had my grip changed. It really seemed to work for me. I know it's a personal choice, but I love the oversized jumbo putter grips.

Fat putter grips do help to quiet your wrists and keep them out of your putting stroke.  Personally, Im not a fan.  Ive tried a few putters with Superstroke grips and to me they kill the feel.  To put a big ole fat grip on my 8802 style blade putter just seems so wrong.

If you have problems with flipping your wrists during your putting stroke, it might not be a bad idea though.

I have messed around with one at the local golf store but I would be worried about how the really fat grip would affect the feel of the putter head and also it would not fit in my bag.

Mine fits in the bag just fine.

It can effect the feel of the putter if you're not careful.  Many of the oversized grips are heavy, so those reek havoc with my distance control, since the feel of the weight of the putter head is gone.  The key is to make sure that you get one that is light so that only the grip size changes, and the weight stays pretty close.  It still feels different, but with the lighter grip, you don't lose the feel of the weight in the putter head.  My Winn jumbo grip is 60g, the same as most standard grips, but I did try a Lamkin that weighed 110g (didn't know better at the time) and I could not hit a 5-10ft putt with the right speed to save my life.

I use a mid size and really like the feel. Putters are so individual though, the only way to know is to try it. At worst, you're out $15. At best, you TAKE more $'s from your buddies! ;-)

I used to have the Super Stroke Slim and liked it a lot, but it seemed to get torn up hanging up on the bag because there's no taper at the end.  If it wasn't for that, I'd still have it.

Try the PURE putter grip, then build it up with tape until up like it.  I have ton of tape under mine and it feels fantastic.

I made mine and my putting confidence went through the roof!!!  $8 invested and 30 minutes.

duct tape base wraps (not all wrinkly though) then 6 rolls of Tennis over-wrap.  I LOVE THIS.

I put Adams and PING in my OGIO Recoil bag. I'm shooting for the low 90's by summer 13'

    • Managed 51/41 this weekend.  Justin Thomas went 78 / 62 from round 1 to round 2. He has access to the best coaches, best technology, best gear, and plays probably every day (or close to it)... if he can have a 16 shot swing from one round to the next, who are we to expect consistency when going out 2x a week is an accomplishment (at least for me with 2 kids it is!).
