Hmm, I find the Taylormade TP reds to spin LESS.

A lot of high-handicappers can afford the expensive balls, I guess. If I had the money, I'd have the best of everything. My handicap is 15 and going down. I rarely lose a ball. I have no problems buying and trying the best -- I'd rather not lose a good ball than a crappy one :)

I bought a dozen Nike Juice Balls at the end of last year and never put them in play. I tried them out very early this year and was struggling with my putting and felt that they didn't have the feel I needed. This also coincided with someone giving me a dozen ProV1's so I took them out of play. I had bounced back and forth between the ProV1 and the DT SO/LO all year. Unfortunately I am out of both right now. I put the Juice back inplay on the last hole Sunday after hitting my tee shot out of play. With the Juice as my provisional I hit a perfect tee shot and put my second from 235 on the front fringe. Two putts later I had saved bogey with a penalty for a lost ball. Using it last night I was putting well and put a ball on the green on a 220 yard Par 3 that I rarely hit. I will keep them in play for now and see what comes of it.

I love the Srixon Soft-Feels (and last year's model is $14.99/doz..sssshhh..don't tell anybody).  They are soft and feel great off the irons, around the green and putting.  I knwo there's a price to feel stand point..but with these..I'd say you lucked out..they're priced great and feel better.

i like to play a Ladies Noodle!  especially when i find them in Pink! :)

I've been playing Callaway HX Diablo and Bridgestone E6, trying to decide which I prefer.  I like both but so far the E6 has a slight edge.  Just seems to feel/sound a little better.

One thing i cannot afford is 'golf ball possessiveness'.  I play mid-cost 2nd hand balls, not the best nor the worst. If i find a near perfect ball in the water or woods, something that catches my eye, oh, say a Nike with the Tiger logo or some 'hot' new ball i immediately mark it and toss it in the bag. I do not want to think of it as special or free or costly. It's only another ball along a long, long road.  My most important task, always, on the course is my performance of the next shot.  I have had great shots with sh*t balls and bum shots with $10 balls.  If i ever think that 'this is a nice ball, i want to own it, do well with it and show the world', i am usually on the incorrect mental path.

I am on the golf team for my highschool and we get either ProV1s or Penta TP3s to play with (brand new, not used) so I use them. When I play on my own, I use the leftover balls that I get before each match (one ball) since I don't lose em. I don't have to pay for top of the line golf balls, it's great ;) Both offer good distance and spin. I also forgot that I have a dozen (maybe 10 now) of Nike One Platinum. They're like 2 years old but they are top of the line balls. My uncle gave me them since he never used em. I also have a dozen of DT Solo and then some older DT series balls, and Callaway Warbird bird balls with the Red Sox logo on them. I should be good for the next few years hahah

Great point. One round I was playing poor with my Bridgestone E6's.. decided to pull out one of the Noodle Ice balls I had from a gag gift.. hit it right down the middle beautifully, got birdie on a par 5. You can feel a difference for sure.. but if you're hitting well... you're hitting well no matter what ball you use.

I like the soft feel!  feels good when you hit that sweet spot!  :)

The only thing that matters to me is how a ball feels off the tee. If it feels soft off the club I tend to be more accurate. Less about preference than what I avoid.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Was able to test out a few balls today.. as i found them during play. Noodle Long n Soft - soft and long.. heh. But was too easy to hit for me.. felt like nothing. Wont buy. Nxt Tour - Pretty great ball.. deserves some love. Performed really well..irons and woods and on green. Would buy. Gamer V2 - Still my gamer :) Prov1 - Good hitting it.. but I just can't spend that kind of money. Won't buy. D2 Feel - Better than the Noodle.. worse than the Gamer V2. Would buy though. Pinnacle Gold distance - Reliable, does some good work everywhere. Would buy. Wouldn't mind a few sleeves.
