I've tried several brands, but keep coming back to the Bridgestone B330. They're really long and they bite like a fat lady on a donut around the greens.

I like the Gran Z. They have been turning up around here. like the Pro V1 and an NXT tour hybrid. Fast off the driver and low spin.
330 dimples.

My local Golf Galaxy got a shipment "by accident" and unloaded them for $1.50 a ball. I stocked up.

I bought some Slazenger RD's 24 for $20 on sale at Dick's and so far they seem to be pretty decent. I also have some older Pinnacle Gold's that I like. I'll try anything for the right price. If I had the money I'd probably be playing Callaway HX Hot's or Tour's though....

Hit my local course that I play the most & used the Bridgestone E-6's exclusively. Normally I dont even use my driver because I tend to fade it quite a bit so I stick to the 3 wood. Anyways I decided to use my driver, an Adams Tight lies & see how it worked out. Of 9 holes I used driver on 6 of them, 4 were dead nuts straight down the middle of the fairway & each one was about 220-230 yds....I am not a long ball hitter & never will be. The other 2 ended up with just a slight bit of draw & were just off the fairway.

I have played the course every week for 3 months now & have not hit that many fairways & had them consistently fly that far. Maybe it's a placebo effect, maybe i'm just getting better, or maybe the Bridgestones actually do what they claim to do?

If you're serious, the numbers on the ball help indicate which ball is yours. (If your playing partners are playing the same ball as you)

But if you're not serious, I suppose the joke is on me now.

I guess that'd be a cool thing when you're playing on a real tournament, but the balls really arent different right?

The #1's are the best ones. Ask Tiger Woods.

I got a dozen of nike ignite's, The ball feels good and hit's ok off the tee. But they get little spin on the irons. For 24$ a dozen this ball is not worth it in my opinion.

just got back from trying them out, i added at least 25 yards to my drive woth the callaways after my first tee shot which i put it out of bounds!
the D2 was brilliant,im getting consistent spin on my approach or at least stopping swiftly.

I have been playing the Hogan "The Hawk" ball lately. Golfsmith had them on closeout recently for only $15/dozen for a 3 piece Urethane cover ball. Very good ball, can get good distance, spin and its durable.

Interesting. I bought them for a friend, and he quite likes them, so I thought about buying them. Not so sure now, though. Having said that, AmericanGolf has 20% off all Nike balls at the minute, so they're only £13 a dozen... worth a shot, I think.

I just like the box Oh, and I currently use lake balls, because I'm crap. But if I stay away from the driver and 3 wood, I don't spray balls everywhere, so I've stopped losing many... interestingly enough, Today's Golfer robot tested lake balls against their equivalent new balls... only lost around 5 yards. That didn't take into account feel and short game ability, obviously. andy.

Taylormade TP Red. They bruise easily, but it doesn't seem to matter. Love 'em.

I'm playing the TP Blacks which I like, but I don't love yet. They spin a lot, probably too much, but I'm not sure I like the feel of them. Bass Pro Shops had them for $34/doz though and I had to give them a shot.
I'm a little surprised how many high handicappers use the most expensive balls (including my playing partners).

    • I work with a lot of golfers who want more shaft lean at impact, who currently have AoAs that range from +2° to -2°, and who love to see the handle lower and more "in front of their trail thigh" from face-on at P6. And a lot of these golfers try to solve the issue by working on the downswing. They do something to drag the handle forward. Or they just leave their right thigh farther back so the same handle location "looks" farther forward. Or they move the ball back in their stance. Or they push themselves down into the ground to get the handle lower and increase (decrease?) their AoA (to be more negative). The real fix is often to get wider in the backswing. To do LESS in the backswing. To hinge less, fold the trail arm less, abduct the trail arm less. I had a case of this over the weekend. Before, the player had 110° of trail elbow bend, "lifted" his trail humerus only a few degrees, etc. The club traveled quite a bit around him, and he tended to "pick" the ball from the fairways. In the "after" swings below (which are mild exaggerations — this golfer does not need to end up at < 70° of elbow bend. These were slower backswings with "hit it as hard as you normally would" intent downswings), you can see that he bent his elbow about 70° instead of 110° and lifted his right arm an extra ~15° or more. You can't see how much less this moved his hands across his chest (right arm abduction), but it was also decreased. His hands stayed more "in front of" his right shoulder rather than traveling "beside" them so much. The two swings look like this: The change at P6, without talking about the downswing one little bit (outside of him telling me that he tends to pick the ball), is remarkable: Without 110° of elbow bend to get out (which he gets to 80°, a loss of 30°), the golfer actually loses slightly less elbow bend (70 - 50 = 20), but delivers 30° less elbow bend, lowering the handle and letting the elbow get "in front of" the rib cage… because it never got "behind" or "beside" the rib cage. If you look at this video showing the before/afters of P6, you'll note the handle location (both vertically and horizontally) and the shoulders (the ball is in the same place in these frames). This golfer's path was largely unaffected (still pretty straight into the ball, < 3° path and often < 1.5°), but his AoA jumped to -5° ± 2°. I've always said, and in talking with other instructors they agree and feel similarly, that we spend a lot of time working on the backswing. This is another example of why.
    • We had a member of our senior club who developed a mental block on pulling the trigger. I played with him to see what the membership was talking about. I timed him a few times when he would get over the ball. 45 seconds. He knew he had a mental block and would chide himself, “Just hit it!” Once on the green he was okay and chipping was a bit better. It was painful to watch him struggle. Our “bandaid” was to put him in the last tournament  tee time with two understanding players. We should have suggested to him to take a break from our tournaments. I agree with the idea that when a player realizes they have a problem, the answer is to go fix it and not return until they are able to play at an acceptable pace.
    • Day 56 (4 May 26) - Worked on some ball-then-ground drills - going from P3 thru impact - with a slowed tempo, working to keep all parts in sync.
