Hi there. I'm new to the game and new to this forum. I'm currently hitting the driving range ever so often, and I've yet to play my first round.
Hope to have some fun conversations with everyone in the future!

Thanks for the welcome. Well, I haven't taken a lesson yet. I've just been duffing at the ball (with the occasional whack). Plus, I'm a lefty player. I've just been watching Playing Lessons on the Golf Channel and watching that for help. Then the embarassment sets in when I swing and the ball goes 5 feet to the right. I know, you have to crawl before you walk...

way to go, I'm a Lefty as well, read my signature at the bottom of every post....small world, we're gaining on em though......hang in there, go to the range as much as possible and if you have some Par3 courses hit those as well, the more you play the better...also go out to a baseball field and hit balls from 1 back stop to another....anything to practice your swing and ball striking. Most importantly, have fun, enjoy the game, don't make it like your job (unenjoyable)

I appreciate the help. I'd love to get out to the range this week, but it's supposed to rain all week where I live. I'll probably just hit the some good books and dream. *sigh*

Hey, guys! Nice to meet you both. I'm happy to be a part of the sand trap family, especially with folks from the Carolinas.

    • Hi @RetiredOldMan!  I am glad to see you are still playing and having good scores.  I hope that when I am 79, I am not only able to play, but still able to produce as good scores as you have been doing.   I look forward to hearing more of your success and your opinion of the senior flex shafts.
    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.
