Short Irons

I don't know what's going on lately, but I can't hit ANY short iron (8-PW) shots! I catch them all too fat or they just hit off the toe and to the right. Not sure if it's ball positioning in my stance or what. But idk what to do to try and resolve this.

If your consistantly hitting them fat, try moving the ball back a little. Ball position is usually my problem when i hit fat shots.

1. Maintain your spine angle into the follow through.

2. Make sure your hands are ahead of the club at impact.

I was having this problem recently. I went to the range, got a medium bucket (70 balls), and hit only those three clubs. I realized the ball was too forward in my stance after about five shots. I moved it, hit the remaining 65 well, and felt confident the next time I went to play.

If a bit at the range doesn't help, consider asking your pro; the worst thing you can do is to ingrain a bad habit with these important clubs.

im actually the opposite right now, hitting my short irons beautifully but my long irons aren't cutting it.

confidence level with my short irons is currently SKY ROCKETING after hitting the range today. WOWWWW

true. but i adjusted my ball positioning accordingly with all of my irons, and pausing just a tad between my backswing and downswing to let my hips fire helped a lot. just sucked judging distance because of the nasty headwind. but a GREAT day at the range nonetheless
