They put numbers on the Golfball so that you can identify your own by the number, when two or more people are playing the same type of ball.

In my Bag:

They have different numbers. That's it. they're exactly the same except for the number itself.

Erik J. Barzeski —  I knock a ball. It goes in a gopher hole. 🏌🏼‍♂️

Dang! You mean 1's don't go farther than 4's? Sheesh, I've been throwing away all my 3's and 4's and only keeping the 1's and 2's...

Just kidding, I haven't heard this question in quite a while and I am easily amused.

If it matters to you then it matters.
Golf is alot more mental then you think.
I am willing to bet that over 80% of the touring pros (and rec golfers if they could) have something superstitious about what is on their ball, weather its the number stamped on it or what is written on it.

I used to buy high number Titlest balls years ago. I liked playing with the 8s especially. Now those are basically impossible to find retail anywhere.

Let me get this straight. You

If I could afford it, I would

always play with an 8 ball. But, really, I can't afford to be that picky. I've got another weird superstition - I sprayed my grips with body spray (the kind that girls use) so it smells all weird. I do it because one day a buddy of mine had done it as a practical joke to my putter - I proceeded to get up and down about 10 times that day, and my chipping wasn't that good.
