Burner or SuperQuad?

Went to the shop to purchase R7 460 and after hitting a few the pro handed me the burner and said try this. The lighter club felt better for me and was more forgiving than my old driver. I went with that and have much more confidence off the tee this year. My fairways in reg are up about 30% so it is working for me. I havent hit the superquad but assumed it was similar to the r7.

personally, i like the look of a driver with a long, shallow face just like the burner tp..the superquad and the r7 i have (and am getting rid of) has a short deep face..

I like the Burner more. I don't get why everyone is complaining about the stock shaft, one i gripped down 3/4 of an inch it has worked great.

just traded my cobra f speed r-flex for the superquad with a stiff shaft.

demoed both the burner and superquad. it seems that the burner had too much draw for me, and i preferred the feel of the superquad better. i think it looks better too!

needless to say, i am very happy with the superquad

Burner TP is my fave out of the 3, without the stock shaft.

I hit the superquad last night and the cobra hs9 x, I hit the hs9 better but the guys with me, absoultely loved the superquad hit it longer than any driver they have ever tried, what is the knock with the superquad instead of the price, one guy was consistenly hitting way over 300 yards, it was amazing, I'm looking one for him now.

I just demo'd both and the numbers came back very close for both the Superquad and the Burner. I bought the Burner TP with the GD-65 TP shaft because I liked how the Burner TP set up as opposed to the Superquad.

The burner comes in three different models, regular, draw and TP. The TP stands for Tour Preferred and is designed for the better player. It is a little more expensive, comes standard with a better shaft, and sets up 1° open as opposed to 1°-2° closed on the regular model and 1.5°-3° closed on the draw model.

The TP is set up to make it easier to work the ball both directions, the regular model is set up to make it easier to hit the ball longer and straighter, and the draw is, of course, set up to help a player close the face and eliminate slicing. Basically, you have to order the TP model most of the time as few retail stores carry it in stock. The regular and draw are in stock most places. Hope this helps.

This is not what i am referring to and actually just about every retailer carries the TP. In all tour versions TP and Tour only heads there have been 2 versions....I just want to know who can tell me the differences between them. This has nothing to do with the regular, draw and TP models.

Only problem for me was that it was tough to demo the burner because of how long the shaft was. I went with the Superquad and got it "semi-fitted" (Looked at the ball flight and roll with the naked eye).

I bought a burner at the start of 2008 and it is brilliant. The longer shaft is light and so makes the ball go further than the superquad. As well as this it looks great.

I believe TayorMade TP drivers have flat faces, as opposed to the convex face of regular drivers.

I play a regular TM 460 Superquad, but also have an R7 460 Draw. The R7 Draw is easier to hit, but the Superquad is longer. It took me about 72 holes to get where I could hit the Superquad consistently well, but now I can hit it consistently long and straight (the R7 Draw was easy to hit from the first shot).

If I were in the market for a new driver, I would look at the PING G10. In Golf Digest's most recent test of drivers it was straighter and longer than any other driver tested, but then GD said the Titlest Tour model was the best in the test even though the PING outperformed it in every test; go figure?

At $500 a pop for a new model driver, it gets expensive to change, especially if you want your fairway woods to match.

Be cautious of used clubs as there are lots of Superquad fakes out there. I have seen Chinese fakes of both TaylorMades and PINGs. If it doesn't perform, its likely a fake.

I owned a Mizuno and Callaway driver for my first drivers, and after testing out the burner, the superquad, the 902d1 and 902d2, hibore xl, i loved the superquad. i didnt buy it as i was testing it out, but the then fiancee bought me the superquad as a pre-summer gift last year to my surprise, and ive loved it since. its beyond great. any girl that invests in your golf game and wants you to play as much as possible cuz she supports you is worth marrying, which i did in september

Oddly enough, I have both. They are both great clubs. However, the differences are significant. The SuperQuad will offer you a more "traditional" look , while th eburner if definietly of the newer "triangular" look. The Burner looks MUCH larger than the SQ, so if a leager head inspires mor econfidence in you, the I suggest the Burner. If you are more comfortable with a "traditional" look, try the SQ.

P.S. - The stock shaft in the Burner is noticeably lighter than anything else you will swing, so expect to swing it faster than other clubs..
