I also have three of the tour wedges 50, 54 and 58, I did not buy the SW or U at the time I got mine. I liked how they feel and the weight. I gave my son my volkies or I should say they ended up in his bag? He does really well with them they feel heavy and hard to me but that was MO of course.

I have been really happy with Ping, they were not on top of my list when I went to get fitted. But very happy with what i got  and how they feel and perform at this time. i also like how they keep there brand whole.

I really liked the look and feel of the PING Tour wedges too. But, since I'm not too good, and didn't want to think about it too much (bounce, grind), I chose the ATV's. The terrain around the central valley ranges from hard firm sand (if you can call it sand) to nasty rough, and very dry tight approaches. I get around a bit, so I do encounter "real sand" at a few courses! The ATV's made sense for me (all terrain) and so far so good. But those Tours you have are "purty"... Would have been my choice too, if not for the wide variety of terrain around here.

Totally understand it took me a few to get the right combo since they come in a S, SS, WS. I have heard nothing but good things about the ATV so sounds like you made a good decision.

Bought mine a couple of months ago and they are by far the best set of irons I've ever had. I absolutely love the way they feel at impact.

Ping G25 Green dots, reg flex graphite, 3-LW (no UW regrettably), no extra length fitted/bought May 2013

Immediately my growing handicap (due to infrequent play) reversed and lost -11 strokes.

The long irons were effortless, high & on target ?!?!?!? (as advertised)

the short irons .... when they were good, they were very, very good and when they were bad, they seemed too short ...and horrid! = playing like a beginner

This month began wondering if my color code changed, demo'd some clubs from white to yellow

and am falling in love with

G15 reg.flex  steel shafts, Green dots

that hit the 150yd marker ever time, unlike the G25

Can't say same for G15 in graphite ....

Also note yellow & green clubs seem about same results

So am shopping for G15 as described above

UNLESS a golf guru says NO

instead reshaft your G25s with reg.flx steel, dummy!

I feel like I have committed heresy, I played Ping for years but after trying virtually every club in the stores (Golfsmith, Dicks, and the PGA Superstore on Long Island, NY) I switched to the new Callaway XR irons. I had my heart set on the Ping G30s but the Callaway's, for me, just felt right. We'll see, I'm hoping they work out otherwise back to drawing boards.

XRs ... OK .... reg or stiff, graphite or steel? and .... did you compare same with the G30s? Why asking .... thinking I made a mistake insisting on graphite when switching from stiff to reg shafts ... thus wonder if the head, e.g. G15, G25 or even XR makes the biggest diff ... thinking now it might be the shaft ... is the dog, the head are just tails?

I played G25's for a couple of years, then made the switch to G30's.  (Yeah, I spend too much money on golf clubs).  Steel shafts in regular flex, which fit me just fine.  I found them to be very forgiving compared to some irons I tried, and just about as long as anything else.  The thing I really liked about the G25's was the almost "buttery" feel of the club at contact.  However, feel is very subjective and I've been playing Pings awhile, so maybe there is just an ingrained affection for the way Pings feel.  The nice thing about the G25's is you can get some pretty good prices on them right now, and if you want to upgrade in a year or two Pings hold their value better than most brands out there.

Well, I have to confess I was looking seriously at the G25s or G30s and I ended up hitting virtually every club in the store, both Dicks and Golfsmith even went to the PGA Supper Store. I may have committed heresy but I ended up getting the new Callaway XR irons, I also purchased their 4H as well.Traded in my Ping G15s. Of all the clubs I hit on the launch monitor the XRs were the farthest and to me felt easier to hit. We'll see how they work out, they are on order because they didn't ship until the 20th.

    • So excited you made it out! I live in Portland and go most springs. If you liked Sheep's Ranch you ain't seen nothing yet. It's incredibly picturesque and with a 2 club wind it's not a cake walk. But as far as the quality of the course in terms of challenge and interest, in my opinion it's easily the worst on the property! Also, Old Mac started as my least favorite (this was before Sheep's Ranch opened). But I listened to the fried egg podcast about it and read through Doak's descriptions and it totally changed my perspective. Now it's fighting for top spot. So excited for you!
