I use my Edel headcover. I've never once played somewhere I think someone would steal it. And the times I guess I think it might be a little shady, or there's a 0.5% chance someone might steal it, I keep an eye on my bag.

I take my putter home with me after a round so I can practice.  The only opportunity someone has to steal it is when my bag is in the cart before a round and I'm at the range practicing.  Most of the members in my club are quite wealthy and have more expensive putters than I do.

I use the stock headcover. No one's really looking to steal an obscure Nike putter that no one on Tour ever used and sold like crap. ;-) When I used to use a Scotty I was mildly worried, but not really any more worried than about someone making off with my entire bag. I keep my bag in my trunk instead of at a club, and I don't really leave it out of my sight. If I'm going inside to eat after a round I'll just toss it in the car.

In my bag:

Driver: Titleist TSi3 | 15º 3-Wood: Ping G410 | 17º 2-Hybrid: Ping G410 | 19º 3-Iron: TaylorMade GAPR Lo |4-PW Irons: Nike VR Pro Combo | 54º SW, 60º LW: Titleist Vokey SM8 | Putter: Odyssey Toulon Las Vegas H7

Call me naive but I had never given any thought to someone potentially stealing my clubs. It wasn't until a few weeks ago when I read a post on this site that I saw someone mention they didn't use the stock headcovers because they didn't want to advertise what kind of clubs they had. Now I'm worried every time I set my bag down and there are other people around.

I have a generic headcover for my cheap mallet.  Mainly because the cover they found when I bought it didn't really fit and was funny looking.  Someday I hope to get fitted for a fancy pants putter - but probably only after I start using balls that provide a better feel....  But I do put the cover on after every green to protect the face of the putter.  It's doing a decent job.

That said - most of my handicap improvement now is coming down to good putting and executing better on up and downs

putter will be the next serious purchase and I'm glad to see a lot of good input on these threads on good brands and types

If it's really expensive, I'll likely cover it with a dirty gym sock.

the one thing I don't want stolen is the laser - that's a great tool and not cheap at all
