Again, my apologies for slacking on this.

Let's set up a date in December where we can just get some guys together and play around. Right now, December 14 or 15 looks good for me. Let's get a list going of who can make it that day and we can set up a tee time next week. I think a course in the East Bay or the Tri-Valley area is probably best for everyone logistically, but lets get some suggestions for what everyone thinks.

Best Regards,
Ryan

Have fun and hope to see you at the So. Cal. outing.

For the "Ryder Cup", will be on the Nor. Cal. or So. Cal Team?

You know I'd have to be on the NorCal side.  I've already infiltrated the SoCal ranks, and I know how to take you guys down ;-) .

Here's some golf courses that we can try to set up an outing:

Callippe Reserve - Pleasanton

Metropolitan Golf Links - Oakland

Lake Chabot Golf Course - Oakland

Monarch Bay - San Leandro

Tilden Park - Berkeley

Skywest - Hayward

Poppy Ridge - Livermore

Wente Vineyeards - Livermore

The Bridges - San Ramon

Not familiar with any of the courses, although I've heard good things about Poppy Ridge and would like to play there sometime.

Remember I play off a 36 handicap, and everyone else is 10+ their listed handicaps. For instance, Drew is a 16 something? :-P I'm sure we'll give you guys one or two strokes. :-D

I agree with poppy ridge too. If you're an NCGA member, you do get a break on the green fees. Are you available on Dec 14 or 15?

I'm fine with whatever we choose but I do get to have 3 guests M-F for only $20.00 including cart, this course is a very stern test and the greens are now back after October aeration.

Did this happen? And if not why don't we try some time this January?

@flopster No it hasn't happened yet, but I agree we're overdue for this to happen. I'll take the blame for this.

The weekend of the 18th and 19th should provide ample time to set something up. I'll send a PM out to the group.

Ryan

The weekend of the 18-19th works for me.  Only caveat being I won't be participating if the Packers are playing at that time.  So I would prefer a Saturday date.

However they have Saturday games also during the playoffs, don't know why I would know that being a raider fan  .

We won't really find out the playoff schedule until January 12 so let's just set it up for that weekend. If the Niners are still playing then I might have to see too.

The 18th/19th weekend is the weekend of the conference championships, so they only play on Sunday that weekend.  Anything before that, and they play on Saturdays.

OK you know better than me, like I said my team has not played a playoff game in over decade so I just assumed Saturdays will have football till superbowl sunday.

Okay, we at least have a foursome in me, Brandon, Ron, and Flopster (sorry don't know your first name) all in four different areas - Sacramento, Concord, San Francisco, and Hayward. Hoping to at least get one more foursome in.

Ryan

Where are we planning this? I can probably make it.

Hello everyone.

What is the course that everyone settled on?  Depending on where it is, I would like to try to make it happen.

    • From what I heard over the weekend, Shedeur pulled a "Bo Callahan" with the Giants. Per Todd McShay: “Shedeur didn’t have a great interview with Brian Daboll in a private visit. An install package came in, preparation wasn’t there for it, he got called out on it, he didn’t like that. Brian didn’t appreciate him not liking it." You can have all the talent in the world (which I am not sure he has, as CU tailored the offense to his strength in a weak division ), but you have to act like a top round draft pick and not like an unproven legend! If you get drafter at 3 as a QB in the draft you are expected to lead that team, and preparation is part of that.  Playing ball in NY (any sport) requires you to deal with criticism, and deal with it as a professional.
    • I agree that in a pure stroke-play situation the use of E-5 limits the possible scores by limiting the potential to hit multiple shots OB.  But in a Stableford or "quota" game, a player is likely to be in "blob" territory anyway, so its a minimal difference.   I understand that E-5 is viewed differently in different parts of the world, I don't know what the Australian attitude would be, but I don't see a problem with using it.
    • Probably hurt him a small bit. I am pretty sure Ward didn’t throw. He probably over evaluated his skill. Which may be his entitled attitude. I agree with the pick at that point. I think he’s closer to an end of the day 2 pick than a day 1 prospect. There has been plenty of QB’s who had similar numbers that don’t thrive in the NFL. It’s easy to get a high comp% in college and put up big numbers. 1) Colorado had to score a lot to win, so they aired it out. 2) The level of competition is low.  Against FBS teams with a winning % he was 70% with 7.5 y/a. Lots of short easy stuff.  Versus Will Howard who had 75% with 9.5 y/a. That 2 y/a is huge.  Cam Ward, 67% at 10 y/a. Look at Joe Burrow, 75% at 10.2 y/a. He was unable to read defenses well enough against FBS teams with winning % to push the ball down field.  I get his o-line was bad, but Miami had an average O-line, not elite and there is a noticeable difference between the two QB’s. They should never been talked as 1A/1B.
    • That's what I'd suggest you do ,post hole-by-hole, post an "x" for the holes not played,  unless directed otherwise by a Handicap Committee with approval from your state golf association.  "Par plus.." is no longer used, unless specific instructions are given.  Note that Clarification 3.2b/2 says it should be used "only when approved by the Authorized Association".
    • I have no idea if he's any good or not. I've only ever seen him play one game. I will say he probably got bad advice going into the draft. He should have done all the "Combine Stuff" at the combine. Refusing to throw at that combine hurt.  I disagree about what his game film shows. I'm no expert, but I tried to watch as much as I could this weekend. I think it's really hard to find any game film on him that's worth a pile of beans. He's either playing really inferior competition in which case the game film is worthless. Or he's immediately running for his life the moment the ball is snapped. In which case the game film is worthless. He should have gone through the combine stuff. That was a huge mistake.  I do think it's a great pick for the Browns in the 5th round. Why not take him at that point? I think he has a chance to develop into something. Completing 75% of his passes, for 4100 yards, 37 TD's with only 10 picks behind that terrible offensive line is pretty good numbers. He may stink out loud at the next level, but being picked in the 5th round means he isn't a bust. He's just a 5th round pick that didn't work out.  If he stinks. Who cares? .... The Browns have had plenty of bad quarterbacks over the last 25 years.
