I think I understand getting the hips forward, slide/lateral, then turn, but is getting the hips turned 90 degrees also important to weight forward, key #2? If you quit on the turn say halfway, does that stop the weight from going forward?

Weight forward is big.

Pros,

-Will help keep your head still

-Will ensure solid contact, ball first

-Will push swing arc more forward, and get a inside out path for a push draw

If you stop your weight forward, and spin out. You'll loose your spine tilt, and hit fat and thin shots. You will also hit more cut shots as well.

It doesn't necessarily stop the weight going forward, but it can wreak havoc with Keys #4 and #5.

A lot of good players slide a bit too much at the expense of slowing their turning rates.
