I did receive the orders I placed from Edwin Watts so they appear to still be honoring their customers orders which is a good sign they will try to restructure their debt and attempt to keep the business going.

There is an Edwin Watts Golf near my house. I guess I won't be shopping there anymore.

Did they say that your store is closing? If not, why would you not be shopping there?

I really would not expect anyone to not get their orders - there will be some store closings, but they will take any business they can get.

Their new catalog showed up yesterday - havent had a chance to look at it yet, but based on what I saw online, there are no deals that are any different from what anyone else is offering.

I think they declared Chapter 11(reorganization), not Chapter 7 (liquidation) … and apparently they received interim financing from a third party to make it through the bankruptcy … so I'd say they are setting themselves up for a sale … maybe back to Edwin.

So they are in a continuing business situation.

Just saw that the EW in Naples is closing, 20-40% off but my stupid driver is an anti - golfite so I won't be checking it out

EW is going through Chap. 11 Bankruptcy - restructuring. Don't be surprised to see EW close some of its lower-performing stories as it tries to stabilize financially.

This happened in the St. Louis area in 2010. Regional chain Golf Discount Superstores went into receivership, and some stores were closed in the process of finding a new owner.

The Chap.11 reorganization seeks financial stability, so EW likely will close lower-performing stores.

EW is just overpriced and I'm not surprised by this at all. The only thing I have purchased from them in 13ish years of living near their stores was a used set of irons. I do go in there if I want to see something up close, then use my phone to google prices for that item. I never find them to be even remotely close to the best deal so I don't end up buying stuff from them. For such a large golf chain, they sure as heck don't try to get your business through pricing.

Also, I would LIKE to give them my business as they are a local company for me (we are both in the Panhandle) but I can't justify paying their prices. If they were even in the ballpark, I'd buy stuff from them.

I went into the one that is closing in Tampa today (felt kind of guilty because obviously the employees are losing their jobs)

The sign outside said 20-40% off. Of course the golf balls were only 15% off - slim pickings in the store, but I guess their shoppers do not like Srixon balls - there were a ton of q-star and z-stars.

I picked up a dozen yellow q-stars, some black widow spikes (that I saved 32.5% on) and a dozen cheap nikes for my father in law.

Even at 20% off on the clubs, nothing stuck out for me.

    • I think part of it is there hasn't been enough conclusive studies specific to golf regarding block studies. Maybe the full swing, you can't study it because it is too complicated and to some degree it will fall into variable or random.
    • Going one step stiffer in the golf shaft, of the same make and model will have minor impact on the launch conditions. It can matter, it is a way to dial in some launch conditions if you are a few hundred RPM off or the angle isn't there. Same with moving weights around. A clubhead weights 200-220 grams. You are shifting a fraction of that to move the CG slightly. It can matter, again its more about fine tuning. As for grip size, this is more personal preference. Grip size doesn't have any impact on the swing out of personal preference.  You are going to spend hundreds of dollars for fine tuning. Which if you want, go for it. I am not sure what your level of play is, or what your goals in golf are.  In the end, the golf swing matters more than the equipment. If you want to go to that level of detail, go find a good golf club fitter. ChatGPT is going to surface scan reddit, golfwrx, and other popular websites for the answers. Basically, it is all opinionated gibberish at this point.

    • Well the first advice I would give is to look at your swing. If you are swing out to in, it may be difficult to fix your misses with club adjustments. They would only be a bandaid. I use midsize grips because I have long fingers and I feel I have more control with them. I also have tinkered with shaft length and swing weight. But I know when I miss it’s because my swing was off.
