I noticed a couple of these in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), the one downtown just opened I think (across from Mirvish theater). With the short season, how do these stores manage to be so profitable, I'm assuming they are as the stores look pretty new and well maintained and stocked.

Club hos in the snow!

We have them all over Montreal too, Golf retail is a huge business. Think of how many people prefer buying clubs to actually golfing…Plus the mark up on golf clubs is massive.

Yours in earnest, Jason.

My relatives (and I) are Asian and they told me... Asians. I went to several golf domes in GTA and mostly Chinese/Koreans. I guess, but I agree - markup and probably dominant store? No competition.

There is competition. It's called golf "clone" companies. Look them up. Many people hate these companies but if you're looking for value then that's where you should look.

GolfTown was bought by Golfsmith, http://finance.yahoo.com/news/golf-town-golfsmith-combination-complete-141100453.html.

In seasonal retain, these stores are supported by the all-year-round stores in the off season (with the exception of holiday sales).  Toronto is the fourth largest city in North America, so there must be a lot of golfers their.

I don't know if you go to any of the ones in MA (I think those are the only U.S. locations), but I liked the staff better when it was GolfTown. They seem to have turned over quite a bit during the transition. I've gotten a few botched re-grippings since the change. I'm not sure what GolfTown's policy was, but I don't like that Golfsmith only offers store credit for trade-ins.

    • Day 12: did the yardstick putting drill for a bit while watching tv.
    • Hole 6, 185 uphill par 3, wind out of the right. I hit a 7 iron to 5-FT left of the pin. The ball landed about 185.5 yards. I drained the putt for a birdie, and most likely a skin.  2nd place is more of a best swing made. 110 yard wedge shot, where I did what I wanted in the back swing and downswing.  I hit a 75% partial wedge 95%. It was flushed, flighted, and beautiful to watch fly over the green. 🤣. I will need to redial in the wedges sometime. Since I am making an effort to make my former 3/4 swing length my full swing length.
    • Is that like "the longest yardstick you can find"? I don't have Airtags but I'd call all of them Airtags too.!
    • Yea, that makes sense.  I remember an Open tournament when they brought out the wind meter one day because balls were being blown around the green. I think it was 45+ sustained, which probably means 60 mph gusts.  I think for the most part, it isn't something that needs to be taken into account.  Also, a golf ball is designed to optimally move through the air. It has better aerodynamics than a sphere.  Thanks for your expertise on this. That makes sense. I know about how wind diminishes the lower in height you go. I didn't know it went near zero at the ground. I deal more with tall structures (utility poles), and we have to take into account height and impacts of wind on the pole. A bit of experience, but wasn't sure how close to zero, non-impactful it was on the golf ball on the ground.
    • Day 2 (7 Aug 25) - More work on tempo with mid-irons, moved to wedges for the balance of the drill.
