Right Thumb Position on Grip

I am not sure I am following short and long thumb. Would you be able to explain a short thumb? Appreciate it.

I am not sure I am following short and long thumb. Would you be able to explain a short thumb? Appreciate it.

A long thumb is where you extend the thumb on the grip, as opposed to a short thumb being that you would bend the thumb, so only the top portion of your thumb rests on the grip. I hope I explained that right..lol

I had to go grip my clubs to see what I do. Yes I was using a short thumb. I extended my thumb once I gripped the club and it damn it fits a bit better. My hands feel like they take up the entire grip now. Is this normal? Thanks for the reply

Glad it worked out for you. Hopefully that will curtail your slice/push.

Duh what an idiot. I took several photos and uploaded the wrong one, sorry guys. This is my normal grip:

Slightly better than the other one I posted. That's as far "strong" as my left wrist will go without strain so I'm not sure if there's a specific type of shot problem I can expect when using it?

Mods please feel free to remove the previous post as it does nothing but confuse. :/


That's real close to where I have mine, my right index first segment against the back of the shaft and the thumb directly across from it or the thumb knuckle intersecting across from it. Left edge of left thumb on top.

When I'm striking low shots like punching and knockdowns I like having a space between my forefinger and middle finger and trying to wrap my right thumb into the space around the handle otherwise it's normally what everyone mentions
