@saevel25. And that's the point...you've just described the best shot you ever hit in 2 lines of boring description. Take me inside your head, when I read your description, I want to be there, I want to see the shot, I want to feel the thrill, the expectation as the ball flies through the air, I want to feel the purity of the strike, the balance in the swing, the tension as your playing partners look on in anticipation, I want to feel the strength in your core and body through impact, I want to see your starting point, your intermediate point and your landing point, I want to hear the sound of the ball, the spin jizz after impact, I want to feel the sense of height looking down at the green, the feel of the turf beneath your feet, I want to feel the extended holding of the follow through, the admiration of such a beautiful shot, I want to feel you enter the "zone" during your pre-shot routine, I want to feel your eyes hardening as the outside world goes silent as you immerse yourself into the shot, I want you to describe what your pre-vis shot looks like, the time it spends climbing, peaking and descending, I want to feel the wind over your left shoulder, the texture of your grip etc

If your visualisation skills are as good as you think they are, you would have no problem conveying to the reader a far more elaborate and descriptive description of the best shot you ever hit.

If he was able to do this, it would be his WRITING skills that would show it.  Or, if in person, his SPEAKING skills, not his ability to visualize.

Bingo, that is like a person knowing the information, but they might suck at being a teacher. Not everyone can inspire the young minds of children. I've slept through some classes of teachers who thought they could. :-D

Also I am not the type of guy to express my personal excitement. Honestly I wasn't paying attention if my mind went into some high focus scenario were I only was able to concentrate on that shot. All I know is the shot matched what I wanted to the T, and that scenario worked out to a great shot. By great shot I mean hitting a strike the way I exactly want it. It didn't improve my game, the visualization of that shot, but it was a culmination at the time of all the hard work practicing I did.

  • 2 weeks later...
I hate to get this debate started again but I figured I'd drop a little update. I've continued to play half a good round and half a blow up for the last couple weeks. My average score has been about 82, with 2 or 3 birdies and 6 double bogies. I got so down when I left the house yesterday I told my wife I didn't care if I shot 100. I was just going to have to come to terms with not being the golfer I once was. I shot 1 under yesterday, went back today and shot 2 under. Physical slump, mental slump, or whatever it was I'm glad it's gone and hope it stays that way. I appreciate all the tips and help.

    • You might want to try a can of Bar Keepers Friend. Yes, it is abrasive, so just wet a sponge and dab it on. It has oxalic acid (no bleach like "Comet" kitchen cleanser), and it works wonders on stainless steel and other metals. Try it on a small area first to see what happens.
    • Fair   My uneducated thought: the big miss is the penalty area. If you want to optimize score, missing into the bunker (likely 5) is better than missing right into the penalty (possible 6). With that, your strategy seems sound and if you hit a committed shot, you get a bunker 5% of the time, take your medicine and hopefully get a putt for par but accept bogey. You may find yourself in a penalty situation 2-3% of the time and accept the associated outcome. The vast majority of the time though you are giving yourself a good approach shot into the green.
    • I walk 30 mins a day on my lunch break. It is not very intense (since i dont want to get sweaty in my work clothes), so just a touch above leisurely. 3 days a week I walk on the treadmill for 60 mins. I alternate the incline from 4 to 10 for a couple minutes, once every ten minutes. I lift my kettlebells nearly everyday. I have a couple complex routines. I find just 15 minutes and my heart rates is elevated
