Ginella reality check

This guy Ginella on Golfchannel is pimping courses with greens fees generally ranging from $100 to $300. Seriously, how many average golfers find these reports useful? Personally, my degree of enjoyment golfing is inversely proportional to the size of the associated costs.

Guy has to have the best job at the GC.

Travels all over to popular locales to rate courses, food and amenities on the company dime and meets plenty of famous people along the way.

In general most of his reviews are for the "high end" resorts and such. Probably because GC has to more to gain by pimping higher end courses and resorts. He does do budget stuff from time to time but in general I find most his stuff to be "Hey look at how freaking sweet my job is" type reviews.

I personally enjoy playing a high-end course every now and then.

I can't afford a steady diet of them, but I don't mind hearing about the relative merit of those courses.  There's nothing worse than springing for big bucks and being disappointed in the experience.

Not me.  There are plenty of courses out there that I wouldn't play for free.  Give my a well maintained course for a reasonable price, and I'm happy.  But cost alone isn't what drives me to a course.

I agree with you. You also see this on Golf Digest and Golf Magazine - both writing articles about courses and equipment/clothing that is well beyond what the average golfer can afford.
