Titleist vokey wedge advice

do you feel that you miss one club between your pitchin and your 54* wedge? how much loft has your pitching wedge?

My wedges are 48/54/60. So I've got 6 degrees between each of them. So no, I don't feel I'm missing anything.

I'm quite sure I read an article somewhere saying that it does. The logic is that rust makes the club face surface rougher, thus adding spin rate. It might as well be misleading. Hmm...

It's wrong, and surface roughness has next to nothing to do with it.

Hate to be so blunt about it, but read the article and read up on how grooves work. Think too about why racing slicks (on dry tracks) don't have any grooves - they're just a bug wall of rubber.

I note that I have the same setup of wedges as you 48, 54 and 60, I imagine that as a single handicapper you do not have trouble with distances between the wedges. Do you have any advice for someone for dealing with distance gaps between these wedges? Do you grip an inch further down the shaft or do the Pelz method of swinging to different points on the clock?

Also, how do know when a wedge has worn out?

I use the Pelz method. In fact, I taped my yardages to the undersides of my wedges.

As for when a wedge is worn out... I don't think I'll ever get there. If I replace it every year or two it won't ever have the chance. I don't like the "super-new" type grooves. They're slightly inconsistent.

I think he's asking how can someone know if the groove of their Vokey wedges worn out regardless to how frequent they're used. Perhaps the appearance changed or else? I'd also very much like to know.

The spin milled refers to the face texture. Most the brand name wedges have good texture although I've noticed that the Vokey's retain their's longer. If you fat shots, got with the higher bounce. Whatever wedge you use out of the sand, go with the lower bounce. I use a 60 out of the sand with a 9 bounce but very open. I have Mizuno MP-R wedges 52-56-60 but was between them and Vokey's for a while. Ended up with the Mizuno's as Mizuno offered the Nippon shaft and Vokey didn't. I also have tour grind, which I like a lot and Vokey doesn't offer that either.

The face on my 60* looks okay but I'm not sure how to tell when the grooves are no longer alright by looking at them, there may be some degree of change with the way the club performs. If someone could help give some signs of what to look for, be it performmance or physical, it would be most appreciated.

Well for one you wont spin the ball as much with a wore out wedge due to the grooves being wore out and "rounded" if you will. Depending on how old they are you can look at them and tell, compare the club to a brand new club. Maybe I'll take a picture of an old wedge later and post it. You can visually tell the grooves are worn out. Pretty much spin or lack there of and visually is how I tell when my wedge is done. For example I used to hit the low approach from 30 yards that takes a big hop then bites but I cant do it with my old wedge anymore, but can with my new one. Same club just new.

I've heard that there's re-grooving tool to bring back irons or wedges grooves like new. Does re-groove

tool like this work? It literally can save us money on buying new wedges.

as long as its not a chromed wedge you can use the tool. If your wedges are chromed then it will remove the chrome and start to rust..
