I play nxt balls, mostly refurbished ones, tried the tour S version last year. didn't see a difference.

I like the nxt because I can't regularly compress a proviwan. Only play about 175yards with 7iron.

Nxt's follow on ball is Velocity.  Have you tried it?   They are distance balls but can't hold green.

I don't have a problem with the Velocity sticking to soft muni greens, I hit high so more often than not it is within a few feet of the mark. Just figured out Walmart sells surlyn x-outs for $9.99 a dozen. I looked in the box and it was the NXT Tour and Velocity, more NXT tour than Velocity.

Bingo. The ProV1X, ProV1 and NXT Tour all have wedge spins in the 11,000 RPM range. The Velocity is in the 6,000 range. Plus its not Titleist's longest ball based on recent comparison test.

I guess I can say this - it was on golfwrx.com. I don't think I can post a link but just go there and search, it's readily available. What I got out of the review was the nxt tour was a much better ball than it typically gets credit for and the nxt tour s seemed poor in comparison.

I see this has been reported in this forum already. See post #7 in the thread "The Real Differences in the Titleist Golf Balls" for link.

Reviving an old thread.  I've been away from golf more or less the past 6 years, so I'm trying to play catch up.  I'm used to playing the "tour" balls (Pro V1, V1x, urethane equivalents from Callaway, Nike, etc.).  Played 9 holes yesterday, alternating holes between NXT Tour and the S model.  Loved the feel of the S and it really seemed to jump off the face of the club (although very little feedback).  I didn't really notice any differences in distance between them, but it was only 9 holes.

Any of you guys who used both balls for a longer trial period have a recommendation between regular vs S models?  I'm sure there are other companies' balls that are equivalent, but I'm narrowing it down to just these 2 for now.

I personally like the regular NXT Tour better than the S ball. I can't tell much difference in the spin hitting into the green. The regular ball seems hotter off the driver. I would say if I'm going to play Titleist it is the regular NXT tour, if another brand, I love the Callaway Hex Chrome. It seems hot off the driver and spins well into the green.
