Hello to everyone, i am new to the forum and i am wanting, needing lessons. I have been playing golf for a few years and have a handicap of 25'ish. I am wanting to take lessons to revamp my entire game. I need professional advice and not sure what to look for in an instructor? Do i want to take lessons at the beginning of the season or end? I may put a video on youtube and link to here to get some comments.

Thanks,

Especially since you say you want to totally revamp your swing ... I'd start as soon as possible and keep working on it all winter, indoors if necessary. (I have one of the short Momentus clubs that I swing in the house -- when the wife isn't around -- if the weather is too bad to get out for an extended period.) That way, with a little luck, your new swing will be in decent shape when the good weather comes around again. You can take even take lessons indoors all Winter at a lot of places.

do it now and through the winter - that's what I did and it worked well for me.
Basically a few years back I completely had my swing rebuilt with a pro over the winter. To me, it takes that long to get the new swing ingrained and its best over the offseason to work on it because I found if I did it while still playing I would find it too easy to revert back to my old crap on the course because at least I would play respectable. At least at the dome you can hide in the mess of balls going everywhere

Trust me - during the rebuild it will be ugly :D but stick with it and eventually you'll see the fruits of your labor. It seemed like forever for me.

Good luck with your mission!

Sorry forgot to add - in terms of instructors - that's a bit a personal preference and who you work well with and respond positively to. I would try to get some recommendations of good instructors in your area and start with that.

Find some teaching pros in your area and give them a call. Ask them questions about the process of getting lessons, rates, advice, etc. If they are short with you and don't seem like they are giving you 100% of their attention then don't use them. Ask for references.

I've used two pros, one was a waste of my time and money. I was younger and he was basically ignoring me half the time we were on the range. He seemed very disinterested. The second pro I used (and do at the moment) is awesome, and I feel I get an amazing deal for the time I spend with him.
