I'm still trying to get around to buying a camera and stand that I can use to do recording. Trying to use my phone would probably be horrible since there's no quick way to set it up.

I use my phone.  I built my own "stand".  I will try to explain it, but when I go home I will take a pic and post it.

I had a bicycle light that I was not using anymore.  It had four rubber arms with wire inside them?  Either way, the arms were designed to be flexible, but stay where you put them.  I pulled the light part off, and zip-tied it to a golf shaft.  It fits right in my bag.  To setup, I just stick the shaft in the ground, and slip the phone into the rubber arms.  Pretty easy.

I currently use an alignment stick and a homemade holder for my cell phone also, the main issue with it is that it moves around in the wind. I suppose a golf shaft would be more sturdy and less likely to move around.

Have you seen the vlog I posted?  It was a bit windy that day, and I think it turned out all right.

Not sure if this will hold your phone.

I was thinking of designing that, but thought the clamp would restrict accessing the touch screen on the phone. I am in the process of doing this:

Just started it this morning at home, but I don't think it will have finished printing by this afternoon.

Plus, I have to finish the base and the clamp mechanism to mount it onto the bag.

Once I get this done, I can distribute the STL files to anyone with a 3-D printer.

It is for a Samsung Galaxy S3/4/5 format. Minor changes can be made to  accommodate any cell phone.

That's awesome! Are you doing one for an iPhone 5S?

I could. It would take about three simple parameter changes.

The design still needs some refinements to insure that the 3D printed parts are strong enough to withstand reasonable punishment.

You guys have 3D printers? rofl, I don't even have a regular printer at home.

I don't don't, but I could feed it to our model shop and they could make it out of aluminum. :-D

What?!!! If you notice in my VLog ( to bring this back to the topic at hand) there was no fluffing of balls in the rough. No cheating here. :-P

I'm trying to make it cheap for people to make themselves. The materials cost and electricity will be on the order of $0.75 (or less) to make one, plus the ~$1.5 (or less) in parts you get from the hardware store. You might be able to find a university in your area that can print them. Anyone with Rep-rap or Bukobot type extruded printer can make it from the STL file.

The alternative is to go to a Stratasys company like http://www.redeyeondemand.com/, but that would defeat the purpose of doing it cheap.

I'll try to get out and record some with my improvised set up this weekend, maybe if I get out for a late round.

CNC milling a part like that will cost $20 for just the materials, even something like 6061. Plus, you need to recycle most of the material (like 85% removal), and the setup/milling time would be in the hours.

The design would be totally different based upon the materials.

Hopefully, I will have a working FDM model before the end of the weekend for next weeks Vlogs.

It's kind of a barter system around here. Works out well.

Are you suggesting a possible barter system around this site as well???

    • Day 521 - 2026-03-06 Got some good work in for 15 minutes or so with someone overseeing. Downswing work.
    • Day 201 3-6 Wider backswing trying to blend it all together for a full swing. Not looking good yet.
    • Day 74 - 2026-03-06 Backswing work out back at the net. Slow.
    • Day 101: did a stack session. Worked on hands down in the mirror during breaks.
    • Got told off yesterday for doing full swings and full speed swings so went to the range this lunchtime and did some slow speed stuff and freezers. A few videos from my session.    First few are DTL then some FO This one is of me looking at the club on the way back. I think I get my arms lifting all the way back, not that you’d know because YouTube keeps glitching on me.    Second one is two slow backswings. This glitches the first one but the glitch looks like a pretty good position so I’ll live. Second one works. Then another swing back and hit. When I’m not watching or really focusing on it it seems that my upper arm doesn’t lift at first, rather stays roughly where it is and I add the lift at the end so the club comes a bit more inside. I think that’s what I’m going to focus on. This one glitches a bit too but it’s really just pausing. This shows the club coming a bit more inside but not as laid off at the top Then a couple of face on ones And lastly one smoothie and one freezer at normal speed  Quite happy with how this went. I can see my arms are better when I take it slower. Also while I’m still pitching my arms out it doesn’t seem to be as extreme as yesterday. Light at the end of the tunnel 🙂
