Is the need to anchor a "dude thing?"

5 posts in this topic

Let me preface this by saying that I have put zero research into this. Just a thought that popped into my head while watching the LPGA as I ate my lunch. I don't think I have EVER seen an LPGA pro using a belly or long putter. Is this just because I rarely watch and I'm not familiar with enough of the players or is anchoring virtually non-existent on the ladies tour? Inquiring minds want to know!

I've seen women use long putters, granted I don't watch LPGA but I've seen it on TBB shows.

I've seen women use long putters, but just anecdotally I'd say the men use them more. Probably just a weird coincidence.

It is obvious that the guys using the long putter are "compensating" for something! ;-) Poor Adam Scott's new bride.

Michelle Wie could use a normal length putter as a chin anchored putter!

It seems to work though, 27,32,26 putts for the first three rounds

I watch a lot of the LPGA and think there are a couple that use a belly style putter but don't anchor but none of the big names seem to.
