If you are a fan of Moe Norman or want to find out how to strike the ball "pure" as Moe called it, then this book is for you. It gives a great history of the long relationship between Moe and his only true friend and student Greg Lavern. In it, Greg reveals to all of us the mechanics of the swing, Moe taught him and him alone over the many years they spent together. This information is truly game changing. Enjoy.

Pure speculation on my behalf here but I just don’t see how Moe could’ve effectively taught his swing to anyone. Video wasn’t a big tool then and of course no monitors. I’ve seen several videos of Moe ‘teaching’ and although an interesting character he really said what his feels were.
And as usual he wasn’t doing what he said he was doing. Two examples were his description of what he does with his trail elbow...similar to Hogan’s description...not done in the real swing. Another was Moe’s description of his hip movement. Claimed he didn’t use them..yes he did. Anyway I digress ...I’m off topic. Sorry.

I have this book and read it before really getting into Moe Norman/Graves Golf. This is a nice book in which I think Mr. Lavern gives good details/history of Moe traveling between Canada and down to Florida at/near end of competitive career.

Mr. Lavern gives details regarding the student/friend relationship with Moe playing/practicing. The book is a very good easy read in my opinion and a great introduction to Moe Norman. Would recommend this book before getting into more modern interpretations/teachings today regarding how those teachings believe how/what Moe did during his swing.

Not to get off topic but I think this book is kinda like  Moe teaching a friend/pupil by perception/feel through demonstration (1970's/80's) vs how Todd Graves learned through a different type relationship > had an established organization and some technology through Natural Golf based demonstrations/teaching models at a later period in time (well past Moe's prime / 1990's). Not taking anything away from Graves, I just choose to look at the topic/teachings of Moe Norman through a timeline perspective. This book is before the Graves/Natural Golf timeline that most people today know Moe Norman by.

    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
    • I have access to far more data (including surveys and polls) than you do with your anecdotes. I mean this as plainly and literally as possible: you’ve demonstrated that you do not. They would, one way or the other.
    • Yes, but you don't live in the UK, so you have no idea what we think about it here. It's a very different mindset here, to demonstrate the fact you should consider 9 out of 10 games we play here are Stableford, whereas you you almost solely play medal. Neither is right or wrong, it's just different  I'm trying to avoid swearing here. Once again, and for the 1000th time, I understand the system, I just don't agree with it. Is there anything wrong with that? PS, I do not have the time or patience to post my results, especially as they prove nothing  That's because 99% of the posters are Yanks
