Luiten lost the first game 2&1 against the top seed in the group, Paul Casey. According to himself he 'didn't deserve to win', even though it was a close match going all square at the 14th. Basically all his drives went right, so his strongpoint (tee to green) wasn't there yesterday. Today Luiten has to play former Masters champion Schwartzel.

After two games Luiten is already eliminated at the World Match Play tournament. I can make a nice story about it, but the truth is he doesn't play very well at the moment...

This also means no top 50 and no participation in The Masters.

Luiten added another tournament to his schedule: this week he will play the Torphee Hassan II in Morocco. A small tournament (he will be the second highest ranked player), but on a beautifull course. And let's be honest, the trophy for the winner is awesome:

Luiten is not playing his best golf at the moment, as a result he failed to qualify for the US Open. Yesterday after a good final round he did end up in the top 10 of the Austria Open, a European Tour tournament he won a few years back.

In two weeks time the Open de France, with a extended purse. On that course the Ryder Cup will be played next year.

Despite a top 10 in Austria a few weeks ago, Luiten is not playing his best golf lately. However, he did qualify for The Open. A good time for a turn around, hopefully he'll find his good form again.

Luiten made an Albatros yesterday at the Andalusian open. He is at -6 and in the lead. Sergio second at -5.

Luiten needs a good result badly, nr 102 at the owgr now.

Saw him play on thursday. First shot I saw was his approach at hole 2 (his 11th, started at 10). At that moment he was at -1 and playing well. I was shattered to see him hitting a really bad shot against a tree and making bogey. But then started the Joost show. His irons were so sharp he did’nt need a hot putter. Three tap in birdies and two from within 6 yards and a score of -5. Amazing to watch him play like the best in the world.

Finally again a (really) good tournament from Joost. Battling for victory until the final hole, coming up one shot short against Garcia to get a second place. Which raises him right back into the top 100 of the OWGR. Hopefully a good finish of the season in The Final Series, good points and money to earn there.

Right now not playing; two young boys at home, third on its way, promotion at work and just moved to a new house and city a couple of months ago. Hard to find the time....

Unfort. Luiten his wrist injury, which cost him 1-2 seasons in the past, is back. He didn't play in any tournaments for 2 months now, and today made public he can't say when he will be back and there will be further investigation in the hospital next week. This must be extremely devastating for him, hopefully there will be full recovery in the future...

Where is @Silent ?

Joost Luiten is up to a new start after his injury. A T3, MC and a T6 during last three weeks on the European tour and he is back at T67 on the OWGR.

I predict an other win this year, also predict playing the majors. Looking forward to it.

    • So I am aware that "the committee is allowed to set its own standards of player conduct in a code of conduct adopted as a local rule" (rule 1.2b) I also understand that there are some aspects that are allowed to be entered, and some that are not allowed.  My question specifically is: In which form does this code of conduct need to be available? Is it enough for someone to say "that's part of our code of conduct", or is it a requirement, that the code of conduct is in written form? Also, is there a need that the local rule points to the code of conduct in any way?   For better understanding: I'm playing competition and the next course that we play has a "no smoking policy". I don't have a problem with it, as I don't smoke anyway, but one of my team-mates does, and someone told him "You'll get disqualified if you smoke on the course".   Now I have looked at their local rules and there is no reference to a "code of conduct". I'm not sure if they even have an official "code of conduct" that states that smoking is not allowed.   I fully agree that he SHOULD respect this request from the club, but I am wondering if the club would really be allowed to DQ this player for this, if it's not properly documented in their local rules/code of conduct?  This is an official national amateur tournament, so not just something organized by a club for its members.
    • A few months back I purchased the following swing aid on Amazon ($130). It is solidly made of steel and heavy and stable in use. I use it both at the range and at home. Swing Plate Dual PRO by Jamie Brittain - Swing Analyzer Aid - Fits Standard 8mm Alignment Rod Sticks - Teaching Swing Plane Perfector - Indoor/Outdoor Golfing Practice. This winter I set a goal for myself to improve my backswing/downswing to be more consistent and on plane. I had a two way miss with my approach shots this past golf season. I have a hitting set-up in my garage, but I needed something to provide feedback while swinging the club. I came across the Swing Plate while browsing YouTube.   I set it up with the correct angles for my 8 iron. I started out with just the back rod in place, which prevents me from getting too far inside on the backswing. Started out slow and as I got comfortable increased my swing speed. Now I also came across a YouTube video on building a better backswing and getting more width in the backswing and added that to my practice. That video is here:    This video is a bit wordy since you are basically a fly on the wall as Ian gets a lesson. It took a few replays to be able to get the substance of the instruction. It was well worth the effort. Over the last two weeks I have been able to get out on the course and gauge how successful my practice has been. Overall, my consistency with approach shots has improved greatly. Incorporating the added width in my swing has also added a few yards to all my clubs.  What has your off-season training been like?
