New Mizuno JPX 850 irons

The forged irons are kind of cool looking with out the colored badging. Although the blue doesn't look so bad either.

I love the Forged version. I'm just coming back into the game after a 5 year layoff. I was set on getting the Callaway Apex Forged, but I've always been a Mizuno man and these new JPX 850 Forged have arrived in the nick of time are just awesome looking. I currently have the Mizuno MP 67's and Bridgestone J33CB's. So I'm starting over fresh with a proper fitting and new irons and wedges. Sort of excited to get going.

I tried a forged 6i at Golfsmith the other day, and liked it. I'm kind of vacillating between the TM MC and this club. I do like company M, and might wait a bit to see if these go on sale.

I liked the Mizuno 850 forged when I got fitted for them,  I'm playing the 825's and was pretty happy Mizuno finally released a forged version of the 800's for a lefty.   I told my wife the golf store had all my information so all she had to do was head down there and order them for my Christmas gift.  I guess I'll find out Christmas morning if I was naughty or nice.

@Lihu I doubt Mizuno will put them on sale, they aren't really known for putting new clubs on sale, but you might find a holiday deal that saves you $100

That's what I'm hoping for more than anything else. Maybe a demo will go on sale?

I wish i bought the 825 forged ones. I game the MP 59's now but well i'm not playing as much as i'm used to, so i can use a little more help at the moment. Those 850 forged ones look great to me also.

If your searching for a good deal you might find the 825 forged ones for a good price now.

If we believe mark crosfield ( mr mizuno ) they hit rather the same.

I do think Mark was being pretty accurate, but I wouldn't know because Mizuno does not make the 825 forged for left handed players. :~( Maybe you can check them out and do a comparison too. :-)

CH3 playing the 850 Forged...wonder if he can still "work" the ball??

I was in a conversation with the kid behind the register about the "it's the arrow" last evening, just joking of course. I know it's the archer. He's been playing for about 10 years, and talked me into trying the 850 forged 6 iron demo. Set me up with the +1" graphite R shaft. Well, they're not as forgiving as my Cobra BioCells, but.... once I got used to that, the brain made the calculation that it had to be more precise with the swing and these things feel sweet. They feel so much softer, and the ball does not go any less distance even though they're a higher loft. The balance on them is fantastic.

When I get better, I'm getting a set a Mizuno forged irons. I give these things 5 stars. I'm just not good enough for them right now.

I bought the 4-GW this past fall but only played about 8-10 rounds. After a few years layoff of serious golf, this past year i decided to get back into it. I knew back in the Spring that i needed to replace my old set of TM LCG's that ive had since high school. For some reason, i became infatuated with Mizuno. Have no idea where it came from. Over the summer, i spent countless hours researching clubs, testing at the range, etc. Along the way, i decided that the MP-54's were the clubs for me. The orange JPX's were too thick and i cared little for the color. So, for a few months, i hit the 54's alot. The handicap range scared me considering my long layoff, the blade style, and the expense vs right fit. Then the 850's came out...whoa... I planned my fitting for when the 850's would arrive at Club Champion. During my fitting, i hit my LCG's for the baseline. As expected, super short but a consistent draw. Then i hit about 5 different shafts, and 5 different irons. With the Trackman data right in front of me, it was super obvious that the 850's with PXi 6.0 were the longest and had the best smash factor. Shot dispersion was consistently right with all irons i tried, as opposed to my LCG draw. Interesting that i had to request to hit the 54's during the session. I guess my fitter could tell from my swing that the 54's would not be the right fit. But, i just had to hit them and compare to all the other clubs that i hit...especially the 850's. So i hit about 5/6 shots that were straight and consistently 10-15 yrds shorter then the 850. Trackman helped make my decision. Today, i now know that the lofts are significantly different and theres a part of me that thinks i missed the chance at the 54's. I think if i knew the loft difference going in, i would feel better. Chalk it up to inexperience. Just to be clear, i love the 850's. They are super nice clubs that i hope will help me as i work through truly studying my swing....which is my main focus know. The equipment excuse is officially off the table. .

You would be wise to not worry about your equipment now. You are fitted by the latest technology. Just focus on the fundamentals of the golf swing. Take lessons. Grip pressure, tempo, rhythm, balance, get on plane. Focus on putting and wedge play. That is the way to better golf.

That being said, I love the way those new 850's look and want them. However I know I will not score any better with them.
