I've been Playing Golf for: 20 years or more

My average score is: About 86

My typical ball flight is: Draw or a weak fade

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Hook

I'm waiting for my evolvr lesson to get back to me.  It's a short pitch using my pivot and having my left wrist naturally stay flat on inline.  I know the pivot is still stalling... I just don't know how to fix it.  Thoughts?

I would defer to your Evolvr instructor.  They will identify your priority piece to work on.  They have been very helpful for me.  I did not really see anything obvious with the shorter swing drill.

I agree with @boogielicious .  Just take is one step at a time with evolvr.  I looks like you have a good sense for the drill and just keep working hard on it until they give you something new.  This is a great place to post the way that you are doing your evolvr drills as well.

Still working on the pivot (not the standing/jumping part).  I don't feel like I'm making progress.  My left wrist is actually kind of flat now which is good.  I'm still hitting it a little fat... frustrating.  Thoughts?

You're on evolvr, so obviously you should take their advice over mine, but what I see is that your head moves towards the target on the downswing. You're moving your upper center forward, which causes you to have to throw the clubhead at the ball to make contact (because you've effectively moved it backwards in your stance).

Thank you anybody who sees this...

I've hit the wall a little bit.

My Evolver lessons have pointed out that I tend to start my swing with a close the face wrist roll... we've worked on everything else and overall, my swing feels better but this seems to be the crux of my issues.  I'm being encouraged to try and get my wrists to more "upright" vs the the wrist-roll-close move you'll see in the DTL video.  In doing so... the thought is I'll come down less shallow and at a steeper angle which will help my fats a little bit more (I know I still have a lot of wrist throwaway on the downswing).

Thoughts?  I've been doing this close the face wrist roll my whole life... so getting rid of it is going to be painful.  When I do this now... I tend to shank it a lot.

I would work on set up to A4 stopping at A2, A3 and work on not rolling the wrist closed.  If you do it in front of a mirror you can check the face position at each step.  Do it slowly and get the feel down. It will take weeks to correct, but this is the best way.

Yep. I'd add more if there was more to be added, but it'll just take some effort.

It actually looks like I get forward shaft lean... remarkable!  My ball flight fades more than it draws now which is new.  The strikes are much more solid and not as fat!  I'm looking for swing thoughts to keep turning the hips during the down swing vs. stalling when they are square.  Any other thoughts would be great!

I'm working on a similar priority piece. My Evolvr instructor is having me make slow downswings to impact focusing on rotating the hips more than sliding. My swing thought is to have my hips rotate with my right elbow moving out and around my body. I use mirror work to get the feeling, then film my range work.

Your swing is coming along nicely!

    • Sounds about right. I forgot this place existed until now.
    • Day 5: Mirror work focusing on the start of the backswing
    • Day 82 (22 Jul 25) - played our church men’s group captains choice nine hole this evening.  Had a blast working green side shots with the wedges.  Love the format as I play a nine club bag which brings on shot creativity in a fun way.
    • Finished Bandon Trail today. Man what a course. Big upgrade over Sheep Ranch. I am giving Sheep Ranch a  7/10. Mostly views, course was good, and fun.  I am giving Bandon Trails 8.25/10. It's up there with Sand Valley in my opinion. Much more demanding of the course. With the wind it just gets brutal.  The first two holes are fully exposed to the wind, since they sit on the western edge of the course, open to the pacific. Even though it is tree lined, the wind has a big impact as it rolls over the hills and dunes. You can be surrounded by trees and feel the 20 mph wind at the tee box or fairway. I recommend using the yardage book, as it contains the course layout with a compass rose showing the prevailing wind (almost always from the north in the summer). It's easier to judge which direction the wind is going.  I played halfway decent. I hate when the shank gets loaded into the gun. Short game is on point, putting is good. I just need to make better swigs. My shot is definitely not built for wind. 😭 Here are some photos...
    • Would he not be entitled to unplayable relief and a one stroke penalty? And wouldn't the drop for unplayable plausibly be the same as the one he took?  That he cited the wrong rule and no penalty makes this a two stroke penalty instead of one? I'm assuming I'm wrong and there is a rule that prevents the player from reinterpreting his actions afterwards?  Regarding rule 14.7 - wrong place - and the general penalty. In this case, he gained a significant advantage by having an unimpeded swing? Shouldn't the penalty be for a "serious breach"? DQ?
