Opponent picked up my ball ball in match play?

I saw post#7. In match play, who cares if a stroke was assessed. The hole was halved. Just another interpretation that makes some of the interpretations stupid. You pick up a marker you concede the putt. Doesn't matter. And there is no replacing the ball when the marker is picked up. What if I say it was a one footer and you say it was a 2 footer. There's no winning that argument.

Seriously, @vangator . You are wrong. Post #7.

Well, you seem content to invent your own rules and  are not prepared to accept the real rules when explained to you.  Not much point in frequenting a rules forum, is there?

Reminds of Mythbusters' Adam Savage once saying, "I reject your reality, and substitute my own!"

KISS

I can't tell if you are being flippant, just trying to stir the pot, or you really think you are right.  If a player picks up either the ball or the ball marker of his opponent because of a misunderstanding of the current status of the hole or match, it is not deemed to be a concession under the rules.

Decision 2-4/5 covers the ball marker, Decision 2-4/4 covers the ball.   You do have to replace the ball or marker in some cases as the hole is not always an automatic halve.  The situation under Decision R2-4/5 is an automatic half because of R2-2, which covers  when a player incurs a penalty stroke while his opponent has a putt left for a half.

John

I didn't realize I wasn't able to comment on the rules. I'll refrain in the future.

You get to comment on the Rules.

You don't get to behave as you have in this and a few other Rules threads, mainly by stating things you know to be untrue. False statements. Lies. Not allowed.

    • I’m thinking maybe Jason Day read my post. He’s sitting a -3 two off Rory and Burns.
    • Is it only the weekend broadcasts that have a low commercial count?  I feel like it has been a long while since I last watched a Thursday of the Masters, so maybe my recollection is off.  I feel today has a lot more than four minutes per hour of commercials, and far fewer of the fun stories they tell during the Sunday broadcast.
    • I mean, I do slide my hips like 7 inches towards the target before impact. PGA Tour average is like 3 inches. I’m not Scottie Scheffler who can get away with it. 🤣 He slides a ton.  For me, I have to feel like I basically just turn. Though, I’m probably over exaggerating a bit with that one video because I’m really trying to push off with the left leg which sends the hip backwards. Ideally, I would be able to get my weight over to the outside of my left foot at impact and into the finish. It’s probably OK that I can slide about 7 inches as long as it’s like only three by impact.
    • Day 32 (9 Apr 26) - Grandson is on spring break- puts in to play 9 at our home course.  Used it to work on top of horizon target point for drives and approaches…i.e. pick landing zone (fairway, green) , an intermediate target point and finally what standout feature do I want to hit “over” on the horizon (tall pine, home top, flag pole).    Better l-r dispersion w/5 of 7 drives in the short grass.  Nice little addition to the pre-shot routine.
    • I managed to get the full afternoon to watch (Pacific time, so the ESPN broadcast began at noon).  I just saw the first shot I feel like commenting on:  Adam Scott's tee shot on #16 was really good, especially after having what might be the worst kind of Maltese Falcon on #15.    I didn't used to like him, but the past few years he's grown on me quite a bit.
