Has anyone here been to a Monday Qualifier? Since there's so many great players playing tomorrow, I'm definitely going. Mayakoo Country Club is a private course - can I just show up and expect to follow my favourite players, or is there something I should know? Thanks in advance.

No idea, but @mvmac caddied in a Monday qualifier so perhaps he has some insight on spectator rules? I would bet it would be awesome just cuz there's likely nearly nobody there and probably not much in the way of ropes or other things preventing you from getting a great view of the players.

Try to call the club if you can to be sure. There typically isn't an issue with spectators.

This is why I like to go to US Open Sectional qualifying.  No crowds, great players to watch, a great course to see, and it is all free.  IMO it is the best bargain in golf viewing.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

I called the club and made sure spectators were welcome. What a great day I had. I followed Immelman's and Ilonen's group and was extremely impressed by the ball striking of both of them. Both ended up missing the cut comfortably, though, as 65 was the last score that made it to the playoff. I was also impressed by Marcel Siem and Tommy Gainey. What a powerful and unique swing Gainey has - maybe not the prettiest but I'd take his swing in a heartbeat. I recommend the Monday Qualifiers to everyone.

Also gives you some perspective of how tough the competition is when you have those kind of guys in Monday qualifiers.

Maybe some of our "I'm an 18 who has been playing for a year and my goal is to be Tiger Woods in 2 years" folks should attend one, LOL

Yeah, it's crazy really. To think that even if you had Rory playing, he probably wouldn't win a spot with 100+ others capable of playing 65 or lower. He'd be more likely to miss the cut than be in the top four, that is. What a tough road it is into the PGA Tour. I hope these qualifiers do well at Honda.

I think Siem and Ilonen are here for the WGC at Doral next week - Honda would have been a nice bonus.

    • Day 35, June 8. Before leaving for work this morning (yes, I'm posting this quite late relative to the practice), I spent 15 minutes practicing at home, into a net.  This time, it was primarily 9-iron (full swings), with some UW (full and half) and a few 6-iron.
    • Day 73: just some mirror work today. Working on feels for being open and getting the front shoulder down.
    • I'm liking this. Finally getting down hands in front of my trail leg pocket consistently at A6 with much better clubhead position (relatively not as tipped out). I can really pressure the shaft through impact with good face control  from this position and stay in balance. Won my first one v one march 5&4 against a 4 hcp who routinely drives it 35-40 yards past me in the men's club match play . Frustrated him with some solid iron play and air tight putting.
    • Day 279 6-8  Worked on low point control skills work tonight. will be doing this for a few weeks. Tonight was just trying figure out how to get low point forward.  No ball.
