I see, so your game is to be the critic of other people's posts.

No, my "game" is to give instruction to golfers, to teach other instructors how to teach, and to have spent hundreds - thousands - of hours studying the golf swing. I have conducted research with super-high-end equipment that can measure things like what we're talking about - pressure shifts, weight shifts, etc.

My "game" is getting proper, correct, and ultimately beneficial information out to the golfing public. I take a very scientific approach - it's just information, not personal.

I've made a handful of posts recently and everytime I do you are to right there to tell me I'm wrong.

Post something that's not wrong - or at least elaborate more than to say "I disagree" - and we'll have something to discuss!

We'll, I have a lot of success with my approach and really don't care if you don't agree.

As have I. My information has the added benefit of being… accurate?

Now, you can and likely will take that personally, but… again, I've spent the time, traveled, money, resources, etc. It's my job to know, and my passion to keep exploring this type of stuff.

We are all welcome to share our thoughts on these forums but you riding my every post is taking the enjoyment out of it. It is more realistic that there are many approaches to the golf swing than just one single method.

I'm not riding you, and I don't teach "one single method."

Seriously, dude, you said "I disagree." You offered nothing. I asked you for more, and shared a bit of what I knew.

Share your thoughts and let me share mine. But, please don't be poised to tell me I'm wrong with every post. You don't know my background and it's not my style to get into a credentials pissing match.

"I don't agree" is not sharing your thoughts.

If you can't discuss and debate with an open mind, @tshapiro, this is not the site for you.

Oh my, you are full of yourself

As are you. Erik has helps hundreds of golfers on this site alone. You come in with no credentials and spout quips that contradict what many, many other good instructors teach. Then you don't even back up your statements with data or valid information. You just want to seem cerebral and play the victim.

We've seen this routine many times on TST. Please take a moment and try to learn from people who know far more than you. Don't let your ego get in the way of learning.

So, people who are wrong should never be called out for it?

Sharing theories and opinions is fine. Discussing them with an open mind is fine.

If you can't handle a discussion of facts then don't share your opinion. Sharing opinions will always put them out there to be examined, discussed and in a lot of cases proven wrong. That is why people put out ideas for discussion, to be proven right or wrong, and to learn from it.

In your case, it has already been asked, studied and answered that lateral body movement adds very little power to the golf swing.

Okay. That's fine. I have a decent amount of research to back up what I'm saying. Do you have anything to offer?

The arms contribute. The wrists contribute. The rotation of the body contributes. Even the "jumping" contributes.

The weight shift doesn't contribute much. I could swing fast (arguably faster) without one.

Stick around @tshapiro. I think you'll find I don't often say things just for the heck of it and I know a fair bit…

Hi there,

n00b here so feel free to flame on. but could you provide further explanation?

How does one execute a beneficial 'Jump' without lateral movement?

Wow, that was getting heated, haha. Im no expert,I shoot 85. But i do know Floyd(my coach) told me weight shift moves the swing bottom so i wont hit fat shots. Thats my 2 cents now im broke. Hit Em Good Yall

No flaming. You're fine. :-) If you can discuss things without getting bent out of shape, you'll do just fine here.

Here are two players "jumping."

As you can see, it's more about raising the level of the pelvis by extending the knees and pushing your hips up and forward.

Speaking from a psysoliology standpoint, the the press from the feet into the ground to counteract the centripetal force of the swing and initiate the power stroke, is indeed vital to producing power.  A byproduct if that move is the lead hip laterally shifting over the left foot.
