I think he's hit 9 fairways and they're just now on 15. People have odd perception.

odd perception indeed.

+1 three to play, I think he might make the full 18. Glad to see him back. What happened to Major Fowler? A top 5 looks hard to come by now.

Fowler has just not materialized the way I thought. All the hype and only one tour win to show for it. A bit disappointing thus far. It's too bad because I like Rickie.

... You know he just came off a nine week layoff, right?

Probably not a good idea to take five or six swings and draw a conclusion from them.

You're right. He is gonna break Jack's record.

Rickie was hyped for the same reason Adam Scott, Charles Howell, and Aaron Baddely were hyped; he was a young, handsome, hardbody that the powers-that-be wanted to be good.  It was never so much about golf ability as it was looks.

I second that. Seems his personal life and hot piece of girlfriend has his mind elsewhere. I thought after last year he would have at least 3-4 top 20's so far. When I saw him live at the Duestche Bank he seems dialed in to his shots. Granted they don't have him featured alot this year I don't see the same shots being made.

That couldn't be further from the truth.....

Did you forget Rickie's performance at all four majors last year? Try and tell me it was his looks that made him finish that high and be in the top 20 world wide rankings.

I'm with you. I have a feeling another year or two with Butch and he is gonna start knocking away at that disappointment hat.

    • As @iacas wrote “This applies to golf, too. Relentlessly chip away at whatever you’re seeking to change. It’ll add up over time in a big way.”  Have to say my work on key points is seeing consistent results -  slowly chipping away at a better approach game, leading to more GIR and nGIR which makes for easier pars and more up and downs.
    • day 93. Chipping and practice getting a little more comfortable with longer irons
    • 89.    Came less than a centimeter short of my first eagle. Had an ugly triple on the last too. But didn't lose a ball. Now in the last 3 rounds I have only lost 1 ball.
    • Played the same course as yesterday today. 6,860 yards, 72.6. Scored better today. Shot a 37-38 for a 75 and did something I don't recall ever having done before. The par 5's run 522-646-523-557 and I birdied (or better) all of them. They only reason I turned in a respectable round was because I played them -5. I only hit one fairway on the front 9 and then hit 4 on the back. Only hit 9 greens today. I didn't hit the ball well at all today, but putted pretty decently. Just was in a weird swing funk. 8 bogies, 6 pars, 3 birdies, and an eagle.
    • Heavy rain from a squall was pounding down. I hit driver on #18 at Pierce Lake to the hole location back right. Probably 230 yards. I knew the shot was good but did not tarry and hustled over to some sheltering trees until the squall passed. Eventually the rain lessened a bit and I jogged over to the green. 6 feet. I missed the putt but the tee shot was still darn good.
