I don't get paying $200 for a driver when you could spend $300 for a G30 or other similar driver. I just picked up golf again and my old high school irons were atrocious. Yet I spent the entire summer playing with them instead of buying a Dick's Special set of irons for $399 and instead spent $800 on Rsi1 irons and I've never loved irons like I love these. I also used my old driver where the grip was completely worn off for the first half of the season until I had enough money to buy my slightly used G30 and couldn't be happier. You don't want to settle when the difference is just $100 or $200. Like I would certainly hold off on buying a golf bag and use that money on a driver. I would rather use an old leather 1940's bag from a garage sale than settle on a driver just for price reasons.

I don't get spending $300-$400 on a driver when you can Spend $120 and get a Tour Edge Bazooka Black or for $200 a Tour Edge Hot Launch, there was a site that had E8 Drivers for around $200... I will not vote for the Ping G30 Driver, I've hit one and it sucked.

Oh yes, I'm sure it sucks and it had nothing to do with your great swing.

G30 is probably going to come out of 2015 as the best driver of the year.  To each his own.

I love my G30

Not $200

True, I'd vote *with obvious bias* that if you like the G30 you could get the G25 and not notice much difference in performance. I hit both and there was very little difference in numbers for me and I was able to pick up the demo for $140.

OK, sucked is a strong word... Didn't like the numbers I was getting is more like it... It just seemed to have too high of a trajectory for me.... (I've been able to lower it a little with my XRail)... G30 might be the driver of the year... But not for me...

Mine is 9 degrees. So that was too high of a trajectory? Curious.

I hit it very high to begin with, my descent angle has been a problem though, its just too damn steep with the G30...

    • Several years ago I got paired with a twosome of golfers, one of which had a maybe 5-year-old son with him. The kid had a putter and a 7i with him, and on some holes he would drop a ball near the green, chip on, and putt. If the kid started to get distracted, the dad would ask, "Do you need to rest?" The kid would nod yes, and then take his dad's seat riding in the cart for a couple of holes. It was a slow day, and the kid was polite and friendly. We got through 18 just fine. (If it had been a crowded course day, I'm sure it would have been less pleasant.)
    • Caution for the seniors on weight training: Listen to your body. (I'm 75) I got a recent session with an orthopedist after a training-related injury. I put too much weight on a new resistance machine at the gym and ended up with bursitis in my left hip. Of course, it's the hip I dislocated back in 2023. I have my first physical therapy session tomorrow. I remarked that some days I can do 45 lbs. chest press - two sets - without much effort. But other days it drops down to 30 (😩) with just one set. (Complicating factor: I had digestive problems in this fall and lost about 20 lbs., with slip in muscle tone.) Orthopedist said that I want to feel some resistence, but that I should go with lots of reps with manageable weights rather than trying to set some sort of lift-pound record. I'm sure I'll get some refinements on lifting during tomorrow's PT.
