From some reason I bought a Blackberry 8830 last week. I need some tips on how to use it. Anybody out there?

I don't own an 8830, but I work on blackberries and some of my users have 8830s. What did you need to know?

Snake,

Thanks in advance for your help. I am unable to download email attachments. Do I need to download a program to assist?

The 8830 should be able to view most common attachment types. But depending on how big the attachment is, you may or may not be able to actually save it to your BB. Which type(s) are you having trouble with?

OK, jpgs should be no problem. I don't have a 8830 in front of me, but I think if you scroll to the attachment and click the "blackberry" button (the one right next to the track ball with the blackberry logo on it), a menu should pop up and give you options to open, save, etc. If another menu pops up with "Full Content" on it, click that and click Retrieve. You may have already tried these steps. I don't mean to dumb it down too much - it's just kind of hard to diagnose without having it in my hands!

If you run your service through a corporate server, then your employer could disable jpg downloads. That is the case with mine.

I prefer the name "crackberry" because I love this device so much. I have graduated to the 8800 from the 7130c.

You should be able to open and view all attachments via the built-in BB software. Just click the trackheel where it says "[1 Attachment]" to pull up the screen. The only thing that would stop you (as mentioned above) is restrictions from your company.

As for additional tips on your device, I use www.blackberryforums.com ; there is a dedicated room for the 8800 series which has some comprehensive FAQs. Think sandtrap.com swing section, but for BBs.

Enjoy!

I picked up the 8703E couple of months ago and am completely addicted to my crackberry. I don't use the internet explorer feature all that much but am in love with the VIIGO service and google maps feature. I have a bookmark of Massachusetts and New England courses and use the maps feature for detailed directions, the best.

Also, its nice to have complete access to my email accounts 24.7

I just got a BlackBerry Pearl, and 2-3 times a week it gets goofy on me: doesn't show that I have new emails (when I do); won't let me delete emails/messages that I have read; and sometimes shows new emails with emails I've gotten & read YEARS ago.

When I go to Verizon they tell me to take the battery out & put it back in, but should I have to do that once or twice a week?

The phone is set to turn off each night during the week, so it shouldn't get clogged up & gets a fresh start each morning.

Do I need to take it back & get another one? This is annoying ...

My GF has a blackberry and Brickbreaker is freaking addictive man!! We are always fighting over the phone to play it. It's nuts. I am thinking about buying one just to play that game

Are you on a BES server? yeah i would call into verizon and tell them the "track ball" isnt working or what have you (if your still under warranty). They wont replace it unless its software/hardware related. if its damaged they will also cry and bitch and probably charge you full price for the phone.

    • I mean there has to be some thought. For eg., something like 'soft knees and wrists' at set up and maybe a dynamic 'left arm to chin' as a trigger to start DS. I have these one or two anchor thoughts and have served me well. In fact, my wildest swings are the one where I have no thoughts or if I forget to walk thru my anchor thoughts. In contrast my best rounds are where I am consistent with the anchor thoughts.    OTOH, if I am running my entire half hour lesson (hypothetical) with some pro that I had last Saturday or whatever before every swing then I'm probably in trouble before I even get over the ball.
    • Two bits. Bit 1 The NCAA's appeal of Brendan Sorsby being granted a temporary injunction will not be heard until February, so there will be nothing to prevent Sorsby from playing the full season and potential CFP.  Bit 2 The Big Ten Conference will hold a meeting and is expected to ban all of its athletic programs from playing Texas Tech in the regular season. Georgia has done the same. The SEC will meet to consider a similar ban. Fellow Big 12 members TCU and Kansas State are spearheading a similar ban, but the conference charter might not allow it. Meanwhile, Big 12 athletic directors are meeting this week to explore what options the conference might have.
    • No, but I'm also in disagreement that golfers have no thoughts over the golf ball, and/or don't ever think I've met someone I truly believe is thinking nothing but "target" or something on most shots.
    • StuM,  I have, in the past, added a left handed club. (Ususally a 7 iron) However, I usually take a stroke penalty and move the ball to where I want it.  I play for fun and in a pinch can use theback side if my club if I don't want the penalty stroke.    RetiredOldMan,  Terry
