If Dustin Johnson wins the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay next month, everyone who purchased a TaylorMade R15 or AeroBurner driver between May18th and June 17th at the PGA Tour Superstore gets their money back.

Early betting odds have Johnson pegged at 16/1 to win at Chambers Bay, which means you’re most likely paying full price for a new TaylorMade driver, but there is a chance.

Other companies have done similar promotions with its pros in the past—Callaway and Phil Mickelson being the most recent— giving away Phil's U.S. Open check from Merion in 2013 . And in 2009, TaylorMade did a similar promotion with Sergio Garcia at the Masters and Garcia and Retief Goosen for the U.S. Open.

Of course, it hinges on D.J. winning. But D.J. has already won once this year and is hungry for his first major. For more on the promotion, click here for all the details.

Nice. I actually like DJ's chances, too. Plays great on links courses (i.e. Whistling Straits). Plus he's been in good form. I'd say the odds are better than 16/1. He just needs to hope Rory and Spieth leave their A-games at home.

DJ's in the lead. Anyone get a driver?

I filled out 3 sweepstakes forms. So I will be receiving 3 new R15's if DJ can keep it together.

I thought the deal was you actually had to buy the driver first then if he won, you'd end up getting it for free?

Yeah, that is the deal. However, because of the "no purchase necessary" clause, you didn't have to buy the driver to win one. You just go into the PGA Superstore and fill out a sweepstakes form. If DJ wins, they send you the driver of your choice (R15 or AeroBurner). You were only allowed 1 entry per household. But my best man and my brother both entered

Looks like he went with option B.

http://www.pgatoursuperstore.com/winwithdjrules.jsp

b. Participate by No Purchase Entry Form: To participate without making a purchase, visit any PGA TOUR Superstore retail location and ask a sales associate for an official Entry Form (the ?Entry Form?). Complete all required fields on the Entry Form, including selecting which Driver you wish to receive (if applicable) and mail it to the following address, as indicated on the form: If D.J. Wins You Win Promotion, PO Box 7694, Melville, NY 11775-7694 (?Entry?). Entries must be postmarked and received during the Rebate Period, to be eligible. Entries will not be acknowledged or returned and proof of sending will not be deemed proof that the Entry was received. No copies/facsimiles of an Official Entry Form will be accepted.

6. How to Receive a Refund/Promotional Item ONLY If Dustin Johnson wins the 2015 US Open:

b. If you Participated by No Purchase Entry Form: If Dustin Johnson wins the 2015 US Open, the Sponsor will mail you the Promotional Item you indicated on the Entry Form, within 8-10 weeks after the conclusion of the US Open, pending verification. No cash or other substitution is allowed except by the Sponsor who may substitute a Promotional Item with another item of equal or greater value if the Promotional Item you designated becomes unavailable, as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion.
You don't even need to go that far. You just go into the store and ask for an entry form, (a non-purchase) entry form. And fill it out and send it in. If DJ wins, TaylorMade mails you the driver of your choice.
I posted this 19 days ago letting everyone know there's no purchase necessary. Let's see if DJ can keep it together throughout the weekend.

He played great today but didn't score as well as he would of liked. Definitely like his chances tomorrow though.

He hit every fairway in a round for the first time in his PGA career. He's driving it so solid, and long.

I was rooting against Dustin so hard. I was near a PGASS last week and just forgot to stop by to enter. If he'd won, I'd have been sick to my stomach over losing out on a free driver.

I was really hoping he could get it done, the free driver would have been nice. But I'm still in shock about how it actually ended. He stuck it on 17 and made the birdie. Then piped one about 350 into a 15 yard wide part of the fairway on 18. Stuck a 5 iron from 230 to 12 feet. Then 3 putt to lose the U.S. Open. It was a crazy finish. I just can't believe it.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
