According to my GameGolf my last 17 drives range from 179 to 262 with an average of 222 yrds with the latter ones being after I changed shafts. I am sticking with the R1.

Always wondered what would happen if one took that silly open closed thing off the bottom -- unnecessary weight. Since a driver is held in the air and by your grip, I think you can set up anyway you want without it. Just wonder about the sound the driver would make without it... and the yardage you might or might not gain.

I've only done adjusting with drivers that have had uniform designs all around, but I saw the Berthas have the Golf Pride new decade mulitcompound grips that very clearly have a specific centered orientation. Does adjusting the head (such as for loft up / down, closed / open) result in the shaft turning on its axis so that the center line of the grip would be turned left or right?

Yes. I honestly didn't notice it for a while because I don't use marks on the grip to line up my hands, but if you do it might take a little getting used to.

Ah, that is annoying. I'll have to hope I fit into the stock setting if I wind up getting the BBA 815 (or I can regrip it, haha).

The last couple of times I adjusted the V head, I do not remember twisting the shaft to another position, but only moving the Optifit sleeves to a position. If my memory is correct, the shaft does not change its position.

I just purchased a new driver from a new company, Bombtech, in Vermont. They partnered with the University of Vermont engineering students to design a new driver. The Grenade. I did some research, spoke with Sully the owner and as he likes to say, "pulled the pin". I got mine hand picked for 9.5 degrees. They normally are 9 or 10.5 degrees. This DESIGN IS THE REAL DEAL. It has two small cavities making the club EXTREMELY forgiving on miss hits. Good distance and great shot dispersion. It's a long club on perfect hits. Instead of 4 welds like most companies it has 2... Google it.

I have to apologize. Adjusting the OptiFit hosel does not cause the shaft and head alignment to twist, assuming you did it properly. The only time the head would twist is if you did it wrong, like some dummy I know

So much back and forth on that driver from reviews over golf forums over the last year. Some like it a lot, some don't like it as much ... if you want, it's worth a shot as its performance for you is guaranteed or your moola back. The problem is that for a long time it only came in 10.5, and because of its characteristics, that was not enough for some golfers. So be aware of what might fit you if you want to take it for a spin. Also, I've seen some youtube vids where Sully has some guy use his driver and then switch to the Bombtech, and holy moly, the earth moved for this guy. But there was no launch monitor and no data. So that type of marketing does not give you much. That's why you demo on a sim to get an idea that it might work for you.

    • Day 33 (23 Feb 25) - Weather was nice (around 60deg) this afternoon - got in a speed round of 18 (the pro shop said I needed to be in by 5 (teed off right at 3  - thankfully course not busy and I was boringly straight for the most part). Played from the member tees to allow focus on the longer game especially approach shots.  Decent all around round - with an 86.  Lost at least 5 strokes on the green, I.e. had a number of putts 5’ or less that I missed for par….did pretty good time wise - walked off 18th green at 5pm.
    • 2/23/25 - it’s been awhile (I’ve noticed I start quite a few posts with that). My wife is doing well! We’ve been blessed with how everything has turned out so far. But after playing just a few rounds all last year, I was looking forward to getting back out on the course. As Mr. Murphy would have it, I’ve had some chronic reoccurring golfer’s elbow intermittently flaring up for years, but have had pretty painful unrelenting bout now for 3 months despite typical conservative treatments of Ice, oral & injectable NSAIDs, steroid injection, physical therapy (to include dry needling and typical modalities) and as of last week, a PRP injection. No better. Holding out hope as the PRP injection can take a couple of weeks to take. While statistically most folks won’t need surgery, my last step is just that.  I didn’t even pay the $40 this year to keep my GHIN going since it’ll be months before I can hit a few balls.  No responses needed, not fishing for anything. Just posting since I’ve had nothing to post in a while.
