Have been googling early wrist hinge or one piece take away. Any thoughts out there on what is proper and what leads to more consistencey? Some webs sites swear by early wrist hinge while others swear by the one piece takeaway.  (It's like asking ten stockbrokers what are your five favorite stocks to invest in....you will get ten completley different answers.)

I think it depends on the particulars of each individual's swing. Some need to feel early wrist set, some late. There are PGA Tour players on both ends of the spectrum.

Depends on the golfer.

I would say that in terms of importance, the downswing is much more important than the backswing. If you have a consistent compensation you can play some really good golf with a funky backswing, #JimFuryk ;)

Some movements in the backswing do help getting into better positions in the downswing. The question if you should change the backswing depends if it really is required or not.

In terms of what amateur golfers struggle with, would check out these,

I am one that doesn't like early wrist hinge for shots other than pitching I tend to natural set my wrist late though I'm trying to set them more gradual in my backswing but it's difficult move for me to do.

One piece is the key.You want keep as square to the ball as possible so keep everything together for as long as possible. No breaking of the wrists early.

I disagree. When you set the wrists is not a commonality of the game's best players, of which there seem to be about five ( commonalities , not "best players." :D).

I suppose it depends on each golfer. If i break my wrists early i seem to hit the ball all over the place :-( .I'm much better keeping everything together for as long as possible..Its all links courses here by the sea ,so always windy, which means any slice or hook is always exaggerated .

I don't think about However when I pitching poorly then I consciously think about "setting" my wrist early and that seems to help my pitching motion back to rhythm

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
