Anyone on here worked with Dan Carraher before? I am intrigued by his teaching style and have exchanged a few emails with him. Seems like he would be a great teacher. I am considering doing an online lesson with him and seeing how it goes...

What can you guys tell me about him?

In my mind it seems like he views the swing as a puzzle. He says everyone has their own swing with different parts and so while nothing is "wrong" with each individual component it might not fit the rest of the swing or, in the case of my metaphor, a puzzle piece that doesn't fit right. That idea just struck me as a very positive and simple way to look at a swing.

That's basically all I know about him. I know he works with Matt Every and is based out of Florida... I was really posting here to try and learn more about him though.

Dan Carraher also known as iteach on many different golf forums has been around for quite some time. He certainly knows his stuff. He has numerous before and after swings on his youtube channel from clinics he has hosted, and many of them do seem much improved. I get the sense that he is excellent in person but I have not seen many golfers improvements from his online teaching. Maybe he has a few online examples of improvements he has made with golfers.

One word of cation I will offer you, just because a guy works with a certain tour player has little affect on how well he will teach you. Golfers who were good enough to get onto the tour are often excellent athletes and can take some instruction and make changes because they have the time to spend on the range. You should not look at this for most regular folks who have jobs, etc.

There is little harm in taking a few lessons and seeing how you work together. Even if you learn a little from him it will be well worth it.

@mchepp Thanks for the reply and words of caution. I know just because he works with Matt Every won't mean I will find the same success... Luckily I am athletic and have four years of college golf to spend working on my swing!

Has he moved out of his mother's house yet? He is a strange guy in person.-Very odd. He is far better than average as a golf instructor but the average instructor is really bad so that may not be saying all too much.

"The expert golfer has maximum time to make minimal compensations. The poorer player has minimal time to make maximum compensations." - And no, I'm not Mac. Please do not PM me about it. I just think he is a crazy MFer and we could all use a little more crazy sometimes.

Hi i'm pretty new around here but man your comments seem pretty harsh? Why are you bashing a guy online? Seems like a lot of folks around here like to make others look bad? Just the initial impression i'm getting.

I ended up doing an online lesson with him so if you guys are interested go check out my "MySwing" thread. Thanks

I'm not sure what this has to do with his ability give a golf lesson.

How you conduct yourself is important in giving a lesson. He is a bit of a weird due. I will leave it at that and if you do not want more elaborate details you should too. Online none of that should matter-On that I am in agreement with you.

Thank you for the help. It did seem like you were trying to bash him a little bit but I know you had good intentions just trying to give your honest opinion. I loved the online lesson I received from him. He seemed very knowledgeable and I am looking forward to the next time I send him some video

I've taken online lessons and saw him in person once.  I think what everyone said about him is true.   He knows a lot and is better than most instructors, but not as good as he thinks he is. He is a bit of an outcast, but I think he'll provide you with solid advice.

I also wonder how much he's work with Matt Every (and others listed on his website).  I've looked for him at the Honda Classic before and thought it was odd that I never saw him following any of "his" players at a tournament in his home state.
