I am 59 years old originally from New York but the last 23 years down here in Florida.

I have probably golfed a total of ten times in my life. Got a little interested when I was a teenager, 3 or 4 times, then about 20 years later

about 4 or 5 times, and then last week I went with some friends for something to do and I did pretty good! Just got lucky,I am sure!

Anyway, seeing I had a decent game and not playing sports anymore, (played everything), I figured this might be a good substitute.

Funny thing, a week before I went golfing, I found this really nice bag in excellent condition that someone threw out. Had no clubs so I was going to rent

but on the way (looking on craigslist) I bought an almost complete set consisting of a no name driver, spalding putter and Hogan Edge clubs.

3,4,5,6,8 irons and a PW FOR 18.00   Had a decent game...not that great but not terrible. So now I just got an older Tommy Armour Silver Scot set of irons

3,4,5,6,7,8,9,sw,pw, a Zebra putter, Snake Eyes Driver, King Cobra 3 wood and a Taylor Made 5 Burner all for 100.00, not bad, right?

Have been watching videos on you tube and reading a lot of stuff on this forum. I am learning a ton of stuff in the little time I have been here.

Hope I get decent so I know what the hell I am talking about! There used to be 3 driving ranges locally but they have all since been built over as

construction is crazy down here. Have to travel pretty far to get to one so I won't be able to practice as often as I would like......oh well, will figure out something!

What part of Florida do you live in? Are you saying that there are no stand alone driving ranges  near you or that

the courses near you do not have driving ranges?

Southwest Florida.....no stand alone ranges.....used to be this one like 1/2 mile from me......

set back off the road behind trees with a real small sign.....hardly anyone ever there.....

Really cheap for a large bucket of balls....was like no one knew it was there...it was great!

They built a community on it ...old guy there made out good i am guessing!

The other two which were not too far......gated communities now....just have to travel.......

    • Day 121: did a bit of mirror work with my driver. Working on shortening the backswing.
    • Day 305 - Grip and backswing work. Full swings were bothering the hip a bit.
    • Day 56 - 2024-11-15 Light day. Lots of catch-up work. Checked the grip to make sure I wasn't compensating there, and did a little backswing work.
    • Day 197 (15 Nov 24) - Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management.  Solid round of 83 (41/42) - 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.
    • Have been on a mid to low 80’s roll of late - today was no different with an 83 (41 front / 42 back).   Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management, delivering 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.  Local course starting to get that winter feel - wet areas wetter, thin grass thinner, greens  trickier.
