I'm finally hitting the ball consistently enough that I felt comfortable renting a Trackman for an hour to get some stats on my clubs. $45 for the hour and then the teaching pro there went through a few things with me for 10m. Pretty awesome experience, I highly recommend it!

I'm curious what everyone else thinks if you're interested in commenting. Here was his feedback:

1. Driver is pretty good, 8.5/10. If I could zero out my attack angle, probably gain 20y off the tee.

2. Irons not very good, 4/10. Buying even a used set would let me hit 2 clubs down (e.g. 7I now, 9I with new clubs) on every shot.

3. 7I/8I, wow spin is insanely high! He had me hit a demo 7I and spin on that was 6,000 which he liked better.

I shoot in the mid-80s pretty consistently, finally broke 80 yesterday for the first time ever (79) on a 68/117 course at 6,000 yards. The driver distances from Trackman match what I get from Golfshot on the course. Irons were about 10 yards shorter than the distances I play on the course, has anyone had issues with Trackman under-reporting carry distance or am I off on my course distances?

Anyway, data is attached and thanks in advance to anyone that takes the time to review and comment. Covert is at 11.5 neutral, SLDR S is 12 and 5W is an RBZ Stage 2 set at 16.5. 56 and 60 wedges are Vokey SM4s, irons are generic cavity-backed from 25 years ago.

Not just zero it out but move it into the positive 2 to 5 range… ideally. You'll want to make sure you're still in control of the driver, but -3.1 is not great for optimizing your distance.

To the other clubs I would suggest you find a pattern. Right now your pattern is like a fern - shots start left and right and curve left and right. Start to develop, with ALL clubs, a consistent start line (just "right" or "left" for now - no need to get too precise yet) and a consistent curve (curving left or curving right, again, doesn't have to be "5-yard draw" every time).

Driver: Hit more up. You want to get somewhere around the 16-17 degree launch angle with low 2000 rpm. You could gain 25 yards of carry.

To go along with what @iacas and @saevel25 said.

Yep, develop a pattern.

    • I had a few tweeks in the bag. I took out my Mizuno pro FliHi 3 iron replaced it with a Titleist GT2 7 Wood. what a change that is, so easy to hit, it goes so high without it ballooning on me. I couldn't get rid of my callaway woods ( Rogue ST Max LS ) but changed the shafts to Diamana BB 63 stiff for the driver and 73 stiff for the 3 wood. Than i got myself a new putter Odyssey S2S jailbird yes i joined the centershaft family
    • First off all i think you should use the same ball all the time. We all strive for consistency on the course, the only factor you can be sure it will be always the same is your ball if you always use the same. So i think we should always use the same. I recently switched from Titleist Pro V1x to Srixon Z-Star Diamond because it i get a bit softer feel around the greens and same results on driver and irons
