I didn't give my stance on the Ryder Cup to appeal to the masses or to try to change others opinions. I expressed my stance as I thought it might bring a different perspective on the event. It also opened up a lot of dialog on the subject. There will always be haters that want to call others names, say they should move to Europe, or question ones patriotism. I just look at the sports of tennis and golf differently than a large % of the population. When I got into golf around 2003 and started watching different players I picked out swings I liked or thought were interesting, interesting characters, great shot makers, etc. Over time I have discovered players I like much better than others... Examples include Retief, Cabrera, Boo Weekley, Bubba, Jason Day, Rory, Stenson, Mikelson, Harrington, Koepka, Fowler, etc. I don't care where they were born and they can't help where they were born. So after a couple of years I discover the Ryder Cup and I try to come to grips with the idea of pulling for a player I find less interesting (Jimmy Walker), boring and annoying as hell on the putting green (Furyk), or arrogant (Patrick Reed) just b/c they were born in the US. If any of the players from my list above where to play against the three players I just mentioned, I would pull for my favorite players. If Poulter or Sabatini played an American I would always cheer for the American player. Anyway, I don't expect anyone to have the same viewpoint as me. However, I would think one could at least see where I am coming without hateful remarks.

Well said. I guess some just can't see it that way. Pretty silly but carry on my friend. Oh, and Jimmy Walker call was good. He's like the "Where's Waldo?" Of the PGA.

Of the PGA.[/quote] nope, some can't... c'est dommage... re: jimmy walker... my wife calls him chicken man because, well, he looks like a chicken when looked at from the side... :-) other than that, there really isn't much interesting about him... of course, that could be said of the majority of pga pros, they aren't that "interesting"... which is ok from a pure golf perspective, they are paid to play, not to be interesting... but from an "entertainment" perspective, there's a reason a blowhard like reed gets column inches and a guy like walker gets none...

Think about it.  We haven't been doing that well with anyone else, how about a real paradigm shift?

I read a lot of the post and you certainly started a "conversation".  Well my 2¢ is that we certainly need to do something different as what we are doing isn't yielding good results; e.g. the present paradigm (see I did read the posts) for selecting the team and its captain isn't working.  So why not John Daly?  The worse he could do is lose and we are doing that now.  Ol' John has had to fight a lot of his own demons and has survived through some tough times and keeps coming out swinging.  Maybe what our USA team needs is someone that breaks with the norm and isn't on the PGA good old boy list.

Daly you got to be kidding...He is a irresponsible bafoon ..that drinks to much...gambles to much..and is full of vices....There's a long list of players that deserve it...Pick someone that represents golf the way it should be represented..

    • Day 139: worked on putting for a while. Did the two cups drill for bead.
    • It’s winter here and time hitting at my indoor place.  This year I bought and sold a few sets so I didn’t settle in on anything. For this coming season, starting now I have a choice to make.  What set would you guys use? 1.  Nike Vapor Pro irons - They are like new, hit them some last year before I had to demo other sets.  I love them, original grips, barely used so I’m almost not wanting to use them to keep their value up.  Standard LLL and standard grips. 2. Taylormade P7TW irons - Still in the box.  Got them over a year ago but had too much to hit, never used them.  Have used a set in the past and loved them.  Ended up with my own set custom fit to me -1/4”, 1 degree flat midsize grips.  These are probably not as valuable because they are still available and they are fit to me. I hate to put the Nikes away but it makes more sense to save them than the TW’s…. I dunno….
    • Day 215 (3 Dec 24) - Another very chilly day - opted to work on easy pitches in the backyard. Worked thru the irons and wedges - focused on foot position and tempo.
    • Yes. I believe in using the same ball all of the time, including chipping and putting practice. I use the orange Callaway Supersoft.  Only $25 per dozen, and sometimes on sale for $20.
