I don't understand why more players don't just putt out of hard bunkers with little or no lip.

I would guess that it's because bunkers are rarely "hard" and have "no lip." And often they have rough between them and the green.

That's pretty much what I've resorted to doing.

This is the way to play this shot. You do not want a lot of bounce on a hard pan type shot. If you do you will likely skull if. The softer/fluffy the sand the more bounce you need.

My home course has hard sand bunkers. I would try and hit my normal bunker shot and skip the club into the ball and rocket it across the green all day long. I took a short game lesson from the local pro and he changed my set up for this shot. instead of opening up my club face to hit this shot he had me keep my face "square". then I play my normal bunker shot. The square face will dig into the sand and not skip.

      Wow that was disingenuous. Like, let’s ignore that golfers actually rotate. It isn’t all side bend. Has incorrect or excessive side bend hurt golfers sure. In no way are golfers taught to just fling their hips towards the target. To basically claim it’s him versus this evil golf instruction industry is just disingenuous.

      I'm starting to move with some speed and confidence. Carried the fairway bunker 225 yards out on the 17th yesterday fairly comfortably. I don't think it was a one off drive either. Pretty much back to game speed. On another note it doesn't seem like my pelvis is nearly as thrusty compared to a this time last year. I hope I'm judging that correctly. It's an ongoing battle.
