Does anyone know when I can pick up some KBS Tour 90 shafts?  I have them in my E8 irons, thinking putting them in my CU'S as well, don't really want to transplant the shafts from the E8's.

I looked on eBay, they had 4-AW for like $185, I was wondering if anyone knew of a component store on the web that may have them... Also would 3-PW fit 4-AW so I don't have to spend another $50 to get the extra ½"

Some things you need to consider...

  • Shaft length. Is the eBay set raw shafts or pullouts? The CU irons have a 38.25" 5 iron shaft, which is one of the longer 5i lengths for stock shafts. It the eBay is pullouts, the butt trim could have made them too short for CU stock length.
  • CU hosel tip = ??? Are the CU irons made for parallel tip (.370)  or taper tip (.355) shafts? Which type are the eBay set?
  • 3-PW fit 4-AW? If you have taper tip hosels in the CU, you would be hardstepping the iron shafts. Also, KBS Tour 90 shafts (taper) use the PW shaft for all wedges.

Unless all the specs on the eBay set fall in your favor, you would be better to spend an extra $55 and order new shafts. ... GolfWorks sells the KBS Tour 90 shafts for $30 each.

All Tour Edge irons are .370 parallel. The eBay shafts are raw 41-37"... I could probably do that and just not butt trim them... My E8 are standard length (38.25" 5-iron), I actually might be okay with std. length just might need to bend the lie angles...

When I was Dynamic fit last weekend... We used a KBS Tour 90 as one of my optimal shaft choices... I think my report said that the difference was minimal with the extra ½" on the irons, I did better with slightly longer however.

Raw shafts gives you max flexibility. Sounds like you did your homework! Bonus points + +

For SLDR iron owners: I've got the KBS Tour C-Taper 90 shafts on my SLDR irons (stock shaft). CT90 was a proprietary shaft which KBS made for TM, and the specs are confidential. But, a TM rep said the CT 90s are highly similar to the KBS Tour 90 shafts, except the CT90s launch a bit lower. Just in case anyone was wondering.

I have the KBS Tour 90 shafts on my SLDR irons, no complaints so far.

I agree fully. Shaft feels very lively on impact, but still gives good control.

Love the CT90. I used TM CT90 pulls in my TEE CU's. Had to use extenders but it was a cheap upgrade. I paid $59 for the set.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
