So, we have been getting a lot of rain and surge from the recent rains here in SW Georgia.  4 or 5 of the holes are under water and only one 9 was open today at the course I play, Bull Creek. It is a really nice muni with two 18 hole courses.  This is two of the holes on the back 9 of the West course.  Pretty amazing to see all of this under water.  For those who work in grounds keeping...how damaging is something like this to a green or fairway?  How soon does the water need to go down before permanent damage?

Hole 13- a 500 yard par 5 from the middle tees. The picture below is from the green back to the fairway.  The red line depicts the original bank of the lake and is normally a good 10 feet below where it is now.  The orange line is about there the cart path is, the area from the cart path to the green is landing area for the second shot.

Hole 14- a 135 yard par 3 from the middle tees.  I'm standing on the back tees and the middle tees are normally at least 10-15 feet below where I'm standing.  The green disk is where the green is and it's currently at least 3 feet under water.

The 15th further around the corner is also fully under water.

This time of year, the when the grasses are dormant, maybe a week before permanent damage may occur.

Floods leave a huge mess of debris, mud, to clean up. I would expect the course to be unplayable for a month, given it's winter.

If it occurs during normal golf season, maintenance staff would most likely have their hands full getting the course playable ASAP.

The outskirts and surrounds would be last order for clean up.

Flood will pretty much guarantee you have to resod the course in the flooded areas.

In the Colorado flood of 2013 there was a course near my house that was underwater (it's a really flat course), barring maybe 4 holes or so. Everything that was underwater required new sod because the grass mostly died, and what had survived was unusable because the flood dumped a bunch of particulate matter all over the ground rendering it effectively "un-mowable" without ruining the blades. It cost the city a fortune to fix the course, and it was in pretty rough shape playing it immediately afterwords.

This is one of 3 holes in the high corner on the course. Everything that is underwater in the video is the rest of the course, which is supposed to only have no water visible from this vantage point.

Expect the holes to be unplayable after the flood recedes for at least 6 weeks, depending on how soon they plant the sod and how long it needs to take root.

One of my local courses has two holes that tend to flood any time we get several days of prolonged, heavy rain. Anytime that happens, it basically strips the grass right off the fairway by the time it evaporates. Then they re-sod. Gotten pretty efficient at it to.

I think Community has just lived with the fact they now have a small creek forming on hole #13 on the Hills. ;)

It's been for ever since I played Hills, but I can picture it. What I was referring to specifically was No. 11 and No. 16 at Miami Shores.
