OK---check out youtube tomorrow.  I am at the NH library and will not be home until late.  I have to work at Hannaford's tomorrow from 5 AM until 1 PM, so it will be after that!

Cool. Start a Member Swing thread and post your video. We'll be fair.

But I'd also like you to address your completely incorrect understanding of how handicaps work. Seriously, I can see no way in which you're a 1.3… I suspect you're arriving at 1.3 by taking, what, your score (played under who knows what rules, mulligans, gimmes, etc.?…), subtracting whatever you decide "par" is that day, and then doing some other math from there.

And, as others have said @PEZGolf, if you're not quite mentally right, please seek help. Mental illness is not something to be feared or ashamed of; it's just a condition for which treatment and help exists.

You can also post the youtube link directly in this thread or create a my swing thread.

Thanks, I will do that.  That will make it easy for anyone to see my swing, which is a result of being taught by Jim Mrva, and then solidified by myself by reading many instruction books and watching Nick Faldo' s VCR tape and the Sybervision tape of Al Geiberger's great swing and rhythm (he did not  become Mr. 59 for nothing!).

Sure, and BTW, it doesn't actually matter if you are actually a 1.3, 5.8 or whatever (11.3?), the point is that you have a decent swing and enjoy the game. Offhand, I know 75+ year old golfers who hit the same exact spot and wear out little rust spots in their clubs, but don't hit far so they are bogey. The balls make little piles on the driving range, and it's still impressive to watch.

The main thing that Erik wants is to make sure that this site remains true to its mission, which is a place where golfers can find the truthful information. Without that this site would be no different than another other blog site on the internet.

Post and enjoy! Cheers!

Yep. This is well stated and true.

I simply don't appreciate people who lie, and this thread created a situation in which your (likely? possible?) lies are being exposed.

At the end of the day, I don't care what anyone's handicap is. I just don't like people lying about it, and being smug at the same time, and exclusionary. I just hope they're enjoying the game and the site, and can be honest with everyone.

I understand that Erik needs to protect the integrity of this website, and I respect that.  I do think that I am "misunderstood" (see my new thread about songs applying to one's golf game).  You are right about old guys, like me, who wear out their clubfaces and their golf balls because their swings repeat so well.  I usually play a ball for 4 or 5 rounds before I "retire it" to my shag bag.

Mitch, you're not misunderstood.

Your other thread was not approved. You're limited to this thread and your Member Swing thread until we can clear up the issue surrounding your handicap.

Again, we don't care what your handicap is. But it's ridiculous to start a thread like this one (the original point of the thread), while possibly not even being below a 5 handicap yourself.

I kind of do not care what my handicap is either. I know when I am playing well and how I am doing in different categories (viz. fairways hit, greens in regulation, par saves, # of putts, sand saves, scores on 6 most difficult holes, etc.). I will get out my scorecard folder and share the calculations with you all.

You guys and gals I will NOT be surprised to hear that I went to see my doctor this week. My wife accompanied me (actually, she LED ME BY MY NOSE there! The doctor's diagnosis: a MILD case of being bipolar. I am now taking risperidone, against my bitter objections (THEY call it "denial"). I still believe that I need only 3 hours sleep a night. Michelangelo, Albert Einstein, and Thomas Edison needed only 3 hours!

You need more sleep and also to continue seeing psychiatrist as well as maybe psychologist to continue to receive the guidance and possibly medication you need. I am an advocate of psychology before medication but the right meds and more sleep may be the key.  Everyone can't be wrong on seeing that you need a little help and openness to accepting treatment;  it is not a stigma , my sister is also slightly bipolar but very grounded and successful

Wow, quite a lot of ground covered in this thread.  What I've gotten out of it is that Pez has admitted to being bi-polar (which was really not a surprise after reading the thread) but he still won't give us proof of his handicap.

Are you a doctor or a health care professional? I'm impressed by what you know and the post you made earlier regarding Mitch's condition. Honestly, I'm exactly like Colin, I have no clue. . .

I get it and understand the pride thing completely. Why don't you see a psychologist then for about four or five sessions. Be completely open and take their advice. They do not prescribe meds so they take a different avenue. But if they suggested the continued care of a psychiatrist maybe you could have an open mind.

I think of the meds like this: our bodies are ultimately a balance of chemicals and matter. We need the right things to feel right and for normal functions. I am getting older, I have to eat more vegetables and fiber or my hemrhoids have me walking like John Wayne after a 16 hour 4 horse change ride acceiss rough terrain. When I don't get enough, I take a supplement. If the diagnosis and medication are correct there is no difference. Why not be your best if you can?  You'd eat your vegetables if it made you smarter or feel better, don't look at the proper medication if necessary any differently.

No I am not. I just care for people and all my life have tried to be someone people can open up and talk to while knowing I won't betray their confidence. Many people thought I would make a great psychologist or attorney but I chose a different route. Still like to help where and when I can without overstepping my boundaries or obvious education limits.

    • I have been debating getting a launch monitor of some sort, if only so I can re-figure my shot zones (I haven't actually mapped them in years) and also to practice distance wedges at home.  I have to see if this works with either my current setup, or what my setup would be if I move it to the garage.
    • Day 48, June 23.  After work today, I took 25 minutes in my practice room;  6-iron, same everything as yesterday except the time and count.
    • Well, this is interesting.  I think we discovered a few months ago that I haven't been following professional golf in a while (my confusion about Scotty's footwork confirmed that), so at least as I aim to follow a bit more I'll get something new to learn with all of you.  My very quick read of Erik's summary makes me think this new Challenger series fits somewhere between Korn Ferry and the Championship (not Champions, but I know I'm going to make that mistake a few times if I'm not careful!).   My recollection is that there were already second-tier events among the PGA Tour;  the Bob Hope didn't have the same quality of field as the event at Riviera (whose current name I forget, although now that I say that, I realize the Palm Springs event hasn't been called the Bob Hope in a few years either).   With the absence of the FedEx (if I'm reading that correctly), does that mean no more FedEx Cup at all? Hopefully I'll have time later in 2026 to sit down and see what we're in for in 2027, where one of my goals already is to follow more professional golf.
    • The highlights as I see them: Championship and Challenger Series The creation of the PGA Tour and the PGB Tour, in the words of Joel Dahmen a few years ago. They're calling them the Championship Series (23-24 events) and the Challenger Series (20+ events). Both run February to August. They feel this will achieve three things: increasing the consistency and quality of fields across the season creating a clear system for players to earn and retain status and delivering a more structured and competitive experience for fans and partners—all in an effort to strengthen meritocracy. Championship Series Structure and Eligibility The 23-24 events includes the Players, majors, season-ending events, and the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup. These will be 72-hole events with a 36-hole cut to the top 65 and ties and purses of $20M+. 120 players without an alternate list. 90 players (roughly) from the previous year and 20 players promoted from the Challenger Series. Full eligibility will be finalized later this year. Sites (cities) to be finalized soon, but 10 of the 15 courses have already been determined. Postseason: includes retention and relegation and concludes with match play. The Tour Championship will also be played across a rotation of prestigious courses. Challenger Series Structure and Eligibility 20+ events. Running concurrently. Will feature players fighting their way back to the Championship Series or players graduating and on the upswing from the Korn Ferry Tour. Many of these events will be current PGA Tour courses. About 7 of the Challenger Series events will be during off weeks for the Championship Series with elevated purses and visibility. Purses of at least $4M, with cuts similar to the Champ series. 144 player fields. Competitive Fields for Both Series Players will be eligible for only one series at a time: Championship Series Players are not eligible for Challenger Series events. Championship Series members will have a known schedule with all events having the same eligibility. Players and Majors will have their own eligibility criteria. Championship Series players don't have to play all events. This begs the question about, say, the Canadian Open, and other "home-town" events that players might want to play, even if they're Challenger Series events. Will releases be granted? Promotion and Relegation At least 90 players will be retained in the Championship Series, and 20 players will be promoted from the Challenger Series each year. Battlefield promotion for two-time winners from the Challenger Series. Players relegated from the Championship Series will have a "last chance" opportunity to retain status, or will go to the Challenger Series. Criteria will be finalized before the start of the 2027 season. Points System New points system (not FedExCup points). Separate points systems for the Championship and Challenger Series. Elevated points in the Challenger Series for off-weeks on the Championship Series. More details tk. Elevated International Events in the Fall The fall schedule will include a limited series of elevated international events with top players from the Championship Series, with the intent to deliver in partnership with the DP World Tour as part of the Strategic Alliance. Last Chance Series The Tour will develop a “last chance” series of 4-6 events in the fall, with a limited number of spots on the Championship Series available for top finishers. Eligibility will include players relegated from the Championship Series, Challenger Series players, and other categories to be determined. Q-School continues, as do the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour Latinoamerica. Also, Brian Rolapp is the new commissioner as of January 1, 2027.
