I'm just checking to see if there is anyone in Colorado, specifically along the Western Slope near-ish Boulder that would be interested in meeting up for a round of golf sometime when the snow melts. I'm not sure how many members are from this area or if it would be enough to have a proper meetup, but it would be fun to try.

Boulder in NOT on the Western Slope.  Those of us on the Western Slope are greatly offended by that notion.  Durango is almost to liberal to be claimed, let alone the People Republic!!

I am always up for a game if schedule allows.

I'm interested (assuming you mean the Boulder area and not the Western Slope). At this rate, the snow isn't going to melt until March, though, so it will probably be a while.

Boulder and the Western Slope are within driving distance of each other, hence my asking. Boulder is kind of in-between the plains and the mountains, so either or both location/s would work for me.

Talking to a course pro the other day he said that, assuming there is no further snow after this weekend, courses around Boulder, Longmont, and Westminster should be melted in about a month. Unfortunately snow is the price we have to pay for having such good golfing weather the rest of the year, since it's not too hot or humid as to be muggy.

Uh, Boulder and Denver are about a 4 hour drive away from the Western Slope. That's not really driving distance for me, even for a round of golf.

As for the snow, if we get a week or two of sunny mid 40s or higher, I'm guessing there will be open courses. I don't think the snow will be completely gone for a long time, though. There's places in my neighborhood where there's still 8 inches of snow on the ground.

As you can see my reply in "How far will you travel to play a round" thread, two hours one way is max for me. So if it's on the western slopes, I'm out.

Regardless, this snow doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. Looks like snowboarding winter for me.

Bump. @ev780, @Pretzel, @Yukari, and whoever else is interested, anyone want to think about putting something together in early or mid May? Since Pretzel is in Boulder, Yukari is in the foothills, and I'm on the west side of Denver, something in the Arvada/Broomfield/Westminster area seems like a decent option.

Courses that come to mind: Heritage, West Woods (not a huge fan, but a decent course), Indian Tree, Legacy Ridge, or Colorado National. If we wanted more upscale, we could do ONMI Interlocken Resort or Fossil Trace. My preference would be Heritage, but I'm pretty flexible. Not sure if I'd want to pay prime time rates at ONMI or Fossil Trace, but if you all want to play there, I could swallow it.

My recommendation in the area (by Colorado National) is Indian Peaks. It's reasonably priced and a fantastic course for the money. Heritage is also a nice course.

I'd definitely be interested in mid may. I have a tournament the first weekend of may, but I'm free for the second and third weekends.

Looking at the original post I made I'm incredibly embarrassed. I meant east when I said west and just got myself all confused.

I may be interested in this, depending on when and where!

Wow, I grew up in Denver, seem to remember calling it the front range and grand Junction was the western slope. Anyhow I have since relocated to Phoenix, if any of you guys are ever in the southern slope district, or don't mind traveling 14 hours one way, look me up for a round.

hey guys - I'm helping to run a couple of tournaments in Denver this summer. I live in Boston so I'm trying to get some insight on our sites and what the Denver golf scene is like in general. We are playing at Common Ground Golf Course in a couple of weeks, Raccoon Creek Golf Course in July, and Park Hill golf Club in August. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm a bit confused as to what sort of advice you're looking for. If you're asking about the quality of your courses, they're pretty decent. Common Ground is a nice links-esque course that's a great venue to walk. Raccoon Creek is a fun course with interesting risk/reward opportunities. Haven't played Park Hill myself.

As for the topic of the thread, is anyone interested in some sort of meetup now that the weather is cooperating?

I'm in the northern colorado area and if anything reasonably near comes by that I can make, I think a meetup would be fun. :) My handicap isn't anywhere near anything great though :P Will keep an eye out

    • MSN Glover expressed his dissatisfaction with what he termed as 'cool kid meetings' between Jordan Spieth, Patrick Cantlay, Tiger Woods and other high-profile golfers. "I think it's terrible," he stated. "And then hiding behind pace of play, I think, challenges our intelligence. They think we're stupid.     "Don't cut fields because it's a pace of play issue. Tell us to play faster, or just say you're trying to appease six guys and make them happy so they don't go somewhere else and play golf." Fitzpatrick joined the conversation on X (formerly Twitter), with the 30-year-old echoing Glover's sentiments regarding the PGA Tour changes. "He's so right," Fitzpatrick posted. "Pathetic that pace of play is spoken about every year and nothing ever gets done."     I agree. Instead of  penalizing  players for  turtle  play they appease the  slow jerks  by  cutting the  fields. They will play even slower  knowing they will NEVER be  penalized.
    • A local film critic gave the movie “Wicked” a great review. I saw the stage musical several years ago (pre-COVID) and enjoyed it. Likely won’t see the cinematic version but one never knows. I probably will go to “Gladiator 2” at some point unless the reviews are terrible.
