Blade vs Mallet Putters

That's typically how I do it except I usually go to Roger Dunn and check out used putters.  However, a number of years ago I went through those steps and ended up with a new Taylormade IB Spider.  Played around with the weights, but coming from an old TPA V, I just couldn't get used to the feel of the insert.

So I happened to be in Play-It-Again sports and saw this Adams Tite Lies mallet for $10.  Started to roll a few on the industrial carpet and it felt really good.  Looked almost new and I figured how bad could it be for 10 bucks.  I ended up giving the Spider to my wife and I can't get this thing out of my bag.  I like the stability of the mallet.

I know a lot of people agonize over putters, and I understand there is definitely value in getting fit for one, I tend to think a lot of it is mental and whether a person has confidence in it.  Actually being able to read greens better is probably of more value to me.

I find that more important thing in the putter is the grip .

I was using the standard perimeter weight anser that everyone uses but recently tried the itsy spider TM and it feel really good. Im now a believer in the MOI less twisting concept and using a mallet style putter.

I generally do not look at the putter head when  Im putting except for long downhill putts and I find the wider mallet line up much better than the anser head.

There are no pro's or con's with either. It just depends on which one fits your eye and putting stroke the best.
