Some years ago I played in a group that played a game called cleaners or at least that is what I think it was called. It is a Skins type game .  For a group of 20 for example  each person that won a skin shared the skin pot. One could win 1 skin and another 17 for example but the two shared the pot as an example. Is anybody familiar with it and if so is it well received? I figure it is a good game with players of varying handicaps.  Any input is appreciated as there is not much out there on google ..  thanks

If the handicaps vary by a lot, skins are generally unfair to the better players.  I've read that if you use something between half and 2/3 of full handicaps, the chances become more even for all players.

With more than four players, skins games are usually "pot divided by number of skins." If player A wins two skins and B wins one, they split the pot into thirds with A getting 2/3.

There's almost never carry-overs in skins games that include more than one foursome.

At our club we do play net skins but, after a year or so of seeing 13's and 14's win an inordinate amount of skins with net birdies, we now cap the course handicaps at 12. It's hardly a scientific way to do it, but it's worked out pretty well.

This is the reason that I never have, and never will, buy into the skins games at almost any event. I can make birdie on a hole and still lose a skin to someone who made par, or be "blocked" by a person who made bogey. I've made eagle on par 5's before and still not won a skin because I had to give back a stroke and someone else made a lucky birdie or par that netted them a birdie or eagle.

How @iacas described the "pot divided by number of skins" is how almost every skins game with multiple groups works. I have seen a carryover system though, based off of the holes each person won a skin on. If the first skin won was on hole 7 the person would receive 7 skins, and if the second skin was won on hole 8 that person would only receive one skin since it had been one hole since the previous skin was won. The system without carryovers is much more fair, in my opinion, for groups exceeding a single foursome.
