I am scheduled to have a full iron fitting on Tuesday morning. I work at a golf course that is a Titleist supplier and can get me AP2s at a discount but they wouldn't be fitted to me.

I am going to a course that has basically every brand available, and will hopefully be trying them all.

My question is, will the clubs at the course be overpriced compared to a golf store such as golf HQ/golf Galaxy, or cheaper? Or the same.

Im trying to decide if the $25 fitting fee with a purchase is more valuable than getting AP2 through my course for probably $900.

Any suggestions? The course fitting is also on an outdoor range with a launch monitor.

As a 10 HCP, it's definitely worth getting fit. No question

I assume you have a fairly grooved swing.  A fitting is a necessity.

If Titleist will not fit the clubs for you, it even makes sense to pay a bit more and buy clubs outside provided they suit your swing correctly.

What's in the bag

  • Taylor Made r5 dual Draw 9.5* (stiff)
  • Cobra Baffler 4H (stiff)
  • Taylor Made RAC OS 6-9,P,S (regular)
  • Golden Bear LD5.0 60* (regular)
  • Aidia Z-009 Putter
  • Inesis Tour 900 golf ball

For $25 it is a bargain. getting the right clubs for your swing is the second most important thing you can do. The first is to take lessons to better your swing first if needed.

How much is the fitting fee without purchase?  You might consider being fit for AP2's (and paying the fee), and then using those specifications to order them from your course at a discount (if that's an option).

Fitting without purchase for irons only shouldn't run you Much more than $100-$150 for a very very through fitting.

Fitter can probably match the courses pricing too if you ask.

I've been fitted and bought directly from the fitter and also taken those specs and gone and gotten used clubs.  They should be more than okay with you not purchasing then and there.
