Sort of OT but got me thinking, is there any decision specifically allowing flashlights? Couldn't they be considered artificial devices or unusual equipment since it's kind of aiding you in making a stroke when it's otherwise dark? Obviously if they weren't allowed I'm sure someone with more rules knowledge than me would've made the case already, but I'm just curious why they're OK.

Well the flashlight is really only going to be useful in finding your ball and maybe light up your playing area on the greens. Like in the photo.  Other than that, i wouldn't think a flashlight is any different than an umbrella or any other piece of equipment you can use to help you cope with playing conditions.

Yeah but isn't it against the rules to have someone else hold an umbrella over your head while putting?

I think so. But the rules say nothing about flashlights as far as i know.
