I tried the wrist cock with rotating the entire left are at the range and for me there are just too many moving parts to want to incorporate it.  Going from short irons up through the driver just exacerbated the consistency issue.

But, the straight Faldo drill seems to be useful in the mirror to get the club, and my swing posture, at the right place at the top of my backswing.  And it does help with a straight back take away.

I think its down to personal preference. It obviously works for some people. Seve started his swing with the wrists and he did fine.

For me i have found if i make a very deliberate back swing, nice and smooth (some may say slowish) then i feel i can transistion better. Strangely my only swing thought/feeling is to get an increase in pressure to the inside of the trail heel through the back swing. Just doing that seems to slow my backswing down.
